1. Here in Ferrum there are a lot of people quietly worried that out little clinic might close. If it does then people will have to drive 10 miles from here – farther for a lot of people, in some cases twice as far or more – to get to the hospital in Rocky Mount, and that’s assuming they can afford to go to the hospital in the first place. (Many can’t – hence going to the clinic, which allows sliding scale payments.)

    Other people are saying “screw ’em” since the vast majority of the worried folks were Trump voters. But I see them every day; I help many of them every day here at the campus library. I can’t quite manage to harden my heart that much, when I’ve known what it’s like firsthand to not have insurance and not be able to afford to go to the doctor.

      • Even though the ACA doesn’t care how you vote, you can be sure that the rw propaganda machine will either report this as a win for the Republican party (without saying how it effects the individual), or won’t cover it at all. But I’m preaching to the choir.
