For reasons that defy logic, some Republicans still think former, and disgraced, Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is a viable candidate for President — even the loons at the White House.

Reports Paul Bedard in U.S. News & World Report’s Washington Whispers:

The Newt Gingrich for president buzz is back, and we’re hearing it from a rather odd corner of Washington: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Top Bushies tell us that they think the former disgraced House speaker would make a great president. Gingrich thinks big, they say, and represents the old Reagan-style of smaller-government conservatism. As for his past marital infidelity, they think it’s a nothing-burger, especially if he faces Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose hubby had his own problems she’d rather forget.

We suppose that given Newt’s fondness for extra-marital affairs and his preference for oral sex, he could campaign as a “Bill Clinton-style Republican.” The mind boggles.

  1. The U.S needs to do what ever it takes to change our two party communist government. Everybody needs to vote for anybody running for government office other than a Republican or a Democrat. Both parties are extremely corrupt and are not of American and for which it stands… “For The Common Good Of ALL People”, Not just for the people who are going to get you reelected.

  2. I can’t wait until you libs eat republican dirt in this election and in 2008. I wish I could see your pouting asses when you lose.

  3. YIKES! Newter, eh? Well I guess now that George Allen is toast, Newt might have a chance with the ethically challenged GOP.

Does this party have ANYTHING to sell? They have horribly hurt the country in SO many ways–

  4. @Mike-
“Newt will run for President and he will win the Republican nomination.”

Sound like you are having a G.W. Bush moment, ie. “Mission Accomplished” or a Cheney moment, ie. “The level of activity that we see today from a military standpoint, I think, will clearly decline. I think they’re in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency.”
Vice President Dick Cheney June 20, 2005

    GOP Fantasy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Newt is just another neo-conservative with an eye on one world order. If I’m going to work again for the GOP, I want a new vision for the future and dump that old world government crap. With Newt, we will have that same old social conservative threats to fight. Damnit what ever happened to individual freedoms? Newt will buy off the religious right just like Bush as done. No!

  6. Remember, Americans have short attention spans. Many will forget why the reps ousted newt in the first place. They put bush jr in after forgetting how much they disliked bush sr. Nothing will impress me, jeb, newt, or any other idiot the gop manages to put in office. They are killing what it means to be an American. On the bright side, after bush jr, they cannot possibly find anyone more ill equipped for public service.

  7. @Mike-
I don’t think that the Democrats have to worry about Newt; I doubt that he would defeat McCain or Guliani or even Allen (assuming he gets the Senate seat) in the primary. Frankly, I don’t dislike Newt because he had sex with someone other than his wife; I dislike him because when the going got tough, he just resigned. That’s not a quality I want in a leader.

  8. For all his flaws, at least Newt used to drink (to excess) with a guy named Blaze Foley –
Personally, I think the GOP ought to nominate Newt for president, because then who the Democrats run won’t matter – no way the American people would put that corpulent, lying bastard into the white house!

  9. This article is pathetic. Newt will run for President and he will win the Republican nomination. Personal attacks will not work. When the debate on the issues of the day comes into focus, Newt will run circles around the brightest the Democrats have to offer. Not sure who that is.

  10. This slime ball – the one yelling and demanding Clinton’s impeachment – is no better. He had divorce papers served on his first wife while she was in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery; he divorced his second wife and while still married to her was playing around with his now wife (his third) and guess he figures oral sex doesn’t count as sex in his case but in anyone else’s it does. This guy is slimy, and slimier. God help us if this pig runs for president.

  11. The Republicans obviously have no rising star. All republicans in office have rubber stamped BushCo to the point they are attached at the hip and the party knows it.But the deal is none of these people care enough or know how to run this country. Vote Democrat, Vote balance and get all of these losers away from our tax dollars and DC. Bring our boys home from the stupid war and protect us against the mexicans that the republicans gave America too.
