1. “The safe return of an American soldier should not be used for political points,” Reid said. “When a man or woman puts on the uniform as a United States servicemen, they have America’s uncompromising support.”

Except for Vietnam prisoners, or those requesting VA assistance and healthcare, or when we direct our law enforcement to treat them as potential terrorists. But otherwise we are fully uncompromising, I promise!

  2. Number 6

This was a tough one…very controversial, of course….and a story that may remain that way for some time. I liked the editorial in the Chicago Tribune re: it:

Will we get answers to the mystery of Bowe Bergdahl? — The noxious, necessary deal with the Taliban…,0,2605026.story

I liked the editorial’s beginning paragraph:
“The choice facing President Barack Obama with respect to Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was terribly unappetizing. He could leave an American soldier at the mercy of his Taliban captors, who had held him for five years. Or he could give up five Taliban inmates confined at Guantanamo Bay. In the end, Obama decided the first option was even worse than the second.”
