"President Barack Obama’s argument ...: “There are too many Republicans in Congress right now who refuse to compromise even an inch when it comes to closing tax loopholes and special interest tax breaks. And that’s what’s holding things up right now.” And House Speaker John Boehner counters like this: “The administration is trying to play games with the American people, scare the American people. This is not leadership.”"

Unfortunately for our commentator, those two remarks are not remotely equivalent. The President's argument places the blame directly upon Congress, and Representative Boehner's argument starts off with a wild accusation about intent to deceive the people. Those two are not the same...

It's possible that through the vagaries of selective quotation that this is not representative of the Representative's arguments, or those of the President, but even if that is true, it was an unfortunate choice. If those are typical remarks, it shows up even further differences between the parties and their platforms.
