The focus of the "reform" seems to be to add more cheap labor to our already cratering wages. Adjusted for inflation, our wages are less on average than they were in the 1960's.

Companies today already abuse the H-1B VISA system. They place an ad in an obscure publication as proof they "looked" for a qualified US citizen, then hire immigrants. This frequently happens in the software industry. I once watched 6 US citizens get laid off only to be replaced by 15 Indian and Pakistani immigrants in just over a month.

There also is no patchwork of laws on immigration. Those that follow the law have no trouble with naturalization and the path to citizenship. The "patchwork" only exists because the government refuses to enforce the existing laws, which is what Rubio means by "de facto amnesty." Nothing like rewarding lawlessness with citizenship. Don't be surprised when your new citizens remain lawless.

So once again we find that politicians are not interested in doing what's best for this country or its (legal) citizens, but what will get them the votes to stay in power.

I mean, we have such an abundance of jobs here that adding some 20 million people shouldn't really matter.

This will be a boon for bureaucrats and immigration lawyers who, of course, will bill the taxpayer for all the freee services.

Not to mention the already over-burdened education and healthcare systems.
