I absolutely hate the term “support our troops.” It is so fake and meaningless. It’s easy.
Well this is how we support our troops.
Delay in armored trucks blamed for U.S. deaths
AP writes: “Hundreds of U.S. Marines have been killed or injured by roadside bombs in Iraq because Marine Corps bureaucrats refused an urgent request in 2005 from battlefield commanders for blast-resistant vehicles, an internal military study concludes.
The study, written by a civilian Marine Corps official and obtained by The Associated Press, accuses the service of “gross mismanagement” that delayed deliveries of the trucks for more than two years.
Cost was a driving factor in the decision to turn down the request for the MRAPs — an acronym for mine-resistant, ambush-protected — according to the study. Stateside authorities saw the hulking vehicles, which can cost as much as a $1 million each, as a financial threat to programs aimed at developing lighter vehicles that were years from being fielded.”
Please notice the last line…..:”Stateside authorities saw the hulking vehicles, which can cost as much as a $1 million each, as a financial threat to programs aimed at developing lighter vehicles that were years from being fielded.”
In other words the Bush administration felt it was more important for the Military Industrial Complex to have lighter vehicles in the future that to protect lives in the immediate military action.
As a result over 2000 men and women have been killed. With support like that, who the hell needs enemies. (gggg)
Bush and his GOP supporters, including John McCain, would rather feed the military industrial complex than support their own people and their country.
What is the definition of traitor?
BTW, it has been reported that over 60% of Americans want US troops out of Iraq within a year. Since there are clear differences between McCain and the Democratic candidates, we cannot let the phantoms pollute the debate with lies and distractions. We must keep the facts out front on keep the debate on topic.
