Jon, the religious right have gained money and reputations on the wars they start. Read up on the plans found withe the neo-cons under Rove and Cheney who have invested in arms and defense spending and will continue to do so. There are a dozen defense manufacturers who have donated billions of dollars funding their candidates.

Once another neo-con President (like Bush) gets into the white house, circumstances will be discovered to need more wars in the middle east. The Republicans are counting on this for their own increase in their personal incomes. Ryan voted for the wars and if you look closely, you will find the platform promotes God to guide our actions on the planet. The separation of church and state kept this under control until Bush handed out federal grants to the churches.

Just after Bush's inauguration, one of his organizations wrote that all he needed was another Pearl Harbor and bingo! we had 9/11. Some day the American people will take the trouble to research what the GOP has become. Justifying these wars should have destroyed these Neo-cons but Americans no longer give a damn.
