Doug! Well done! You have my full support!….Between all of the “End of the World” TV series (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/showtracker/la-et-st-doomsday-tv-20120729,0,7319382.story) and movies, the 15% of the global population that believes the Mayan End-of-the_World claptrap according to a recent Reuters poll (see above article link), and the general social anxiety and depression that accompanies a sustained economic depression, I can see why fear rules the day, grips the populace, and shoots gun sales through the roof.

Hey Doug, the second amendment is the only thing we got left! They took away trial by attorney, (they can put us in dungeons now) we lost posse comatus, there is no 1st amendment, (we have free speech zones now), and police are using tasars and rubber bullets on us ever more when that right is exercised, so there is no Bill of Rights!

As an aside, I am a very careful and curtious driver because you never know whom one might upset. And, do not forget we have become a government of mendacity.

A retired Methodist minister came by to buy some produce and my father came by to show me his new 410 shot gun. The preacher said that he had heard the shot gun was the most effective gun against a home invasion which i already knew. Simply put just aim at the intruder and pull the trigger. You will hit them somewhere. The NRA should promote this instead of the hand gun issues.

Notice, this article uses the term “gun deaths”. This is an attempt to mislead the reader. The statistics used include suicides and cases where police shot and killed a suspect. It is not about homicides.

The source of this information is from the Violence Policy Center, an anti-rights group that has as its goal to ban all firearms even for police. Given the source, I doubt the author is an actual gun owner.

Obviously purchasing restriction laws are no deterrent to crime and crafting more of them will yield the same results. Absolutely nothing.

Has prohibition ever worked? Look at alcohol. Look at drugs. Look at the latest craze, bath salts. Supply will meet demand. Laws be damned. Might as well be telling the grass not to grow or a river to be still.

I too am a gun owner both a rifle and a shotgun for hunting purposes though I do keep a couple shells handy for the shotgun in case of the very slim chance that an intruder enters my home. On the other hand I have no use for the NRA and the fanatical gun lovers it attracts.
