“As President of the United States, I’ve got a lot of responsibilities,” Obama told Green Bay radio station WBAY in an interview. “Obviously, I would have loved to see a different result.”
But Obama did nothing to alter the outcome of the election. He didn’t campaign for Democratic challenger Tom Barrett. He didn’t even put in an appearance in the state nor did he send in any surrogates to represent him.
“The truth is, Obama looke at the polls and didn’t want to risk his own dwindling voter appeal in a losing race,” a senior Democratic consultant told Capitol Hill Blue Monday. “He could have made the time. He didn’t.”
Which leaves the question: Will Wisconsin voters have time for him in November?
