So much for the “man of the people.”
President Barack Obama, with former prez Bill Clinton in tow, flew into New York Monday to schmooze the rich and powerful and take in the big bucks from Wall Street fatcats and entertainment millionaires.
Some might find the President’s action hypocritical at best and two-face at worst. The incumbent President who bashes Wall Street and launches non-stop barrages at GOP challenger Mitt Romney‘s success heading a private equity firm turns the other cheek and seeks campaign cash from the same people he demonizes.
And he does it with a former President who sides with fellow Democrats who think Obama has gone off the deep end by decrying success.
Whatever differences Clinton and Obama might have on the campaign tactic of trying to nail Mitt Romney for success while running Bain Capital disappeared in front of those with deep pockets. It was all smiles and unity and the fundraising events raked in more than $3.5 million, proving that Wall Street executives can be just as hypocritical as hypocritical as politicians.
Billionaire hedge fund manager Marc Lasry hosted big bucks fund raiser at his Upper East Side digs, charging $40,000 a head to rub shoulders with a current President and a former one.
Bon Jovi hitched a ride to New York aboard Air Force one.
