I’d say the stench fills the room and the only folks who can’t smell it are Palin’s supporters. Those of us who’ve been paying attention have been trying to warn folks for years, but those Naughty Monkey pumps are a powerful force to be reckoned with.

When she was running with McCain, so many of her followers repeated over and over again: “We love her, because she’s just like us.”

And, when I heard that, I thought of one of my favorites….

H.L. Mencken — famous hard-nosed newspaperman and American philosopher who said that one of the big flaws in democracy is that many people only like and trust others who they perceive are similar to themselves, and eventually they’ll vote into office those people and those politicians will be the ones who are mostly mediocre and unfit. His language to describe this was harsh: “Democracy, too, is a religion. It is the worship of jackals by jackasses.”

Now, those are his words, of course, not mine….I still believe in mankind’s (no gender assignment there)nobility to rise above this especially when tough and harrowing times demand it. Many people still want someone smarter, more skilled, and more adept at solving the nation’s and world’s problems than they are.

Our next election is shaping up to be as big of a sham as the last. Do you know why Sarah Palin’s bus tour was really canceled? Do you know why she stayed 30 miles away from the second debate and chose the death of Steve Jobs to announce that she’s not running? Know what leaked out? Sarah Palin and Cain aren’t in the race for the same reason, the truth leaked out.
