I met John McCain many years ago. I did not know who he was at the time, and my impression of him was that he was one of the most slimey people I had ever met. Later I found out that he was a senator from AZ. That explained it.
I am not certain that he can really be called a tragic figure. That gives him some standing as a noble person, which he most definitely is NOT. I can only explain his actions in North Vietnam as either abject stupidity or pre-planning for his eventual political campaigns.
Its probably a little of both.

"-- McCain has transformed himself from a deficit hawk who mocked supply-side economics into someone who sounds like he's drunk deeply from the wackiest vats of supply-side Kool-Aid, to the point where he now claims raising taxes decreases revenues (a claim so wildly in conflict with the facts -- for example, federal tax revenues almost doubled in real terms after the Clinton tax increases -- that it's either a shameless lie or a product of astounding ignorance)."

many would argue that this was due to the strength of the economy influenced by reagan policies and the surge of the markets, the economy's improvement due to tax relief and the support of the business sector is sometimes a slow process. i'm not an economist but i've read arguements supporting this.

John McPain is as phony as a blue three dollar bill.

Yep he's a flipper all right so just try to imagine him as our Commander in Chief?! He'll be a geniuinely "mad" variant of Bushco in spades; ie., Mr. "bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran"...!

The best link ever on the worldwide web is the one I'm going to supply. I urge citizens to read it and let what this guy is all about percolate into their collective consciousness. Truly a scary guy; a genuine "Manchurian candidate".

If he makes it to the Whitehouse; which I have my doubts, aides best take the Queen of Diamonds out of every pack of playing cards on prem... :|
