I Googled snake pit which reminded me of the film “The Snake Pit”

The Snake Pit is a 1948 film which tells the story of a woman who finds herself in an insane asylum and cannot remember how she got there. In common metaphorical usage, a snake pit can mean any institution (such as a school, prison, hospital, or nursing home) or organization led in an inept or inhumane way, or an institution containing many people who may be hostile, untrustworthy, or otherwise treacherous.

Nuff said on that….

Woody, good job, Newt sure fits the definition of flibbertigibbet (a frivolous, flighty, or excessively talkative person )…. moonbeam fits too – although maybe moonbeamer would take any ambiguity out of the reference.
