Without skin in the game there’s no impetus for the average young citizen to be awake, stay awake, and demand accountability. They just go with the flow.

I’ve spent a goodly amount of time th inking about the Congress and just exactly how they have come to this affront to liberty.

There’s just one answer: COWARDS, simply COWARDS.

Start looking for a nice place to live abroad.

Even worse the Senate passed SB1867 Almandine with a 93-7 vote which included the McCain/Levin amendment for using the military to roundup designated ‘enemies of the state’ and to keep them detained indefinitely without due process on American soil, until Congress declares an end to the ‘war on terror’

Translation: “Welcome to the “United Police States of America”!

And when we dastardly citizens decide to leave our fair land (that is, IF our government now sees fit in their infinite wisdom to let us out) we also mustn’t forget to drop our drawers while their hired TSA goons grope our private parts looking for “weapons”.

It is important to always remember that fences (erected in the name of “border protection” and “security”) work both ways. Indeed, with this legislation, now ALL persons (visitors and citizens alike) are to be considered terrorists until proven otherwise.

So much for “The Land Of The Free” and “The Home of The Brave”, eh?

Sounds more to me like we’ve become the “Land of the Paranoid” and “The Home of the Modern Day Gestapo.

He’s just thrilled with the passage of NDAA and has the look of a baby that just had a good crap in his diaper. 77 year old dudes wear diapers too in certain late life situations. The provisions are totally unconstitutional, but until it’s tested at some future date, there’s no way to overturn this bogus piece of legislation. Hopefully we’ll still having a court system in place to declare its unconstitutionality. The American people now have the long, dark shadow of in their face tyranny stalking America. The White House claimed Obama would veto the bill if it came to his desk with these provisions. I have my doubts that he will do so. In the event he does, it would give himself an opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of voters such as myself that have given up on him some time back. If he were smart, he’d use his veto power to partially redeem himself and to completely blow off the fascist elements of his Republican opposition.

Our Congress has become an enemy of the people. Maybe Obama needs to declare them such and have them rounded up first in the event he signs off on the NDAA, then he won’t have any opposition from these entrenched, mostly senile pinheads, the likes of McCain and Levin et al. : D

Obviously we’ve failed the founders and ourselves in keeping our fair Republic Keith. This nation was not founded as a democracy, but that of a representative based republic. Our representatives no longer represent “We the People”, but they, the corporations while they pitch loaves of bread and jugs of wine to the unwashed masses back in Mayberry, USA in the form of ‘pulled pork sandwiches’ courtesy of the U.S. Treasury ‘deli’.

We’ve degenerated into a devisive democracy that caters to every whim of the rabble at the expense of a fiscally sound representative based Republic.

When leaders try to please/buy off everyone for votes, you end up with pleasing no one, with the end result of whining, never-satisfied ingrates for citizens, soon to pay for their unfettered, undisciplined spending habits, both public and private.

This continuing nonsense also highlights the utter incompetence of our current government leaders…if not the absolute farce those same leaders have now made of our Constitutional form of government.

Indeed, a simple majority used to be all it took to get something done. And our esteemed Congresspersons were looking out for the interests of the country as a whole, not what kind of “bacon” they can bring back to their districts.

Indeed, the average Congresspersons idea of government waste these days is a dollar spent in someone else’s district.

It also used to take a simple majority to move legislation through the Congress. Now it takes a so-called “super majority” to do so, thanks largely to the myriad of hurdles and “rules” erected by congressional staffers and others via endless committee hearings, assorted “urinary olympiads” (spelled: “floor fights”) childish filibusters…all of which are instigated and supported by assorted lobbyists and other well-paid “hod carriers” with the express aim of serving their own ends.

This, of course, is because our esteemed Congress Critters are now usually AWOL most of the time as they are out trying to stuff their pockets with millions in campaign cash just to keep themselves in office.

I often wonder what our founding fathers would have to say after viewing what has since become of their bold experiment in representative democracy.

No doubt most now turning over in their graves!
