I hate Rick Perry and was eagerly looking forward to the video. I watched the video, and was deeply disappointed: I wasn’t sure that Perry was really drunk.

It is so obvious that Perry had done some sort of mind-altering potion before his speech, and I am left to wonder if it may have been a combination of a couple casual martinis AND one or two pain pills left from his July back surgery. After a long and tiring week, that Vicodin or Oxycontin looks pretty good.
I sort of feel sorry for the guy, his family, his campaign workers and supporters. Very, very embarrassing event…but totally hilarious to watch.

Scroll to the last 30 seconds when the host tells him he can’t let him leave New Hampshire without giving him a special present. Watch carefully because he leans over to see what it is before the host tells him. That’s when he gets a huge grin on his face. I think he thought he was getting a pint bottle of whiskey because that’s what it looks like.

The grin disappears when he’s told it’s just maple syrup.
