A new poll shows the faux grassroots movement continues to fall out of favor with mainstream America.
According to the latest CNN/Opinion Research poll, only 31 percent of Americans have a favorable view of the tea party — a drop of six percent from the previous poll — and 51 percent say they view the group unfavorably.
The poll — taken Aug. 5-7 — matches other public opinion surveys that show voters are increasingly fed up with the tea party’s extremism, particularly in its hard-line stance that brought the debt limit debate to the brink and led to the downgrading of America’s credit rating.
It may be time to turn out the lights. The tea party is over.
