Trouble in Hillary’s paradise

Democratic Presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton plans a “campaign-wide house cleaning” if she loses the opening primary season races in Iowa and New Hampshire,” sources within here beleaguered organization tell Capitol Hill Blue.

“Heads will roll,” says one campaign operative. “The word is out.”

Campaign sources say the one-time Democratic Presidential front runner is “clearly agitated and pissed off” at a seemingly unending string of screwups and gaffes by her once smooth-running organization and has expressed her “obvious displeasure” at what she sees as sloppiness within the election effort.

“To put it mildly, she’s pissed,” says a veteran Democratic consultant. “If she loses Iowa and New Hampshire she will start chopping off heads and will bring in new blood. She has to because her campaign is in trouble.”

Before her seemingly insurmountable lead vanished, Clinton’s campaign was considered a smooth-running machine headed for an easy set of victories in the early primaries. Instead, the campaign has been rocked by resignations after embarrassing emails about opponent Barack Obama, returned donations from questionable sources and even campaign literature sent out with the wrong dates to vote.

“Hillary may become the Howard Dean of 2008,” says one Democratic activist, referring to Dean’s public meltdown after he lost the Iowa caucuses in 2004. “The machine is broken and she hasn’t found the right mechanic to fix it yet.”

One of those mechanics, husband and former President Bill Clinton, may do more damage than good.

Editorializes the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s once-sure bid for the Democratic presidential nomination is now not so sure. Her lead vanished without warning in Iowa and New Hampshire – and maybe elsewhere as well.

Was it due to her waffling on issues like the Iraq war and driver’s licenses for illegal aliens? Or was her campaign too smug – like that of similarly sputtering Republican front-runner Rudy Giuliani – assuming she should be coronated by the polls and media rather than having to fight for the nomination tooth and nail?
Or is it just that her upbeat, confident rival, Barack Obama – with a little help from Oprah – is surging as he bests her in back-and-forth quips?

Hillary’s campaign so stalled that her advisers have tried dredging up Obama’s kindergarten essays and his admitted drug use. And now they’re resorting to flying in Bill Clinton to save the day. Some polls and conventional wisdom suggest he may yet restore his wife’s fortunes.

But Bill’s not exactly a fireman. He may instead throw gasoline on the fire.

First, his vote-getting abilities are suspect. He never won 50 percent of the vote in a presidential election. That fact and the embarrassment of his impeachment were why Vice President Al Gore kept him away from his 2000 campaign. True, Bill’s presence is said to resonate with African American voters, but most may prefer Obama anyway, as polls now show in South Carolina.

For Hillary Clinton, what once appeared to be an easy ride to the nomination is over.

Reports AFP:

Hillary Clinton on Friday denied her White House campaign was in disarray, despite sliding poll ratings and an uproar sparked by an aide who questioned her rival Barack Obama’s drug history.

“If I had listened to … the Washington chattering class, I would not be standing here would I?” Clinton told reporters, as controversy and reports of campaign turmoil swirled around her 2008 president bid.

“I believe in trusting my own instincts. I feel very, very good about the case that I am making.”

New signs of weakness in her presidential big came less than a month before the first nominating contest in the race, the Iowa caucuses, and amid an Obama surge in the polls.

This is typical corporate behavior from one of the most arrogant, condescending hypocrites politics has seen, lately. The competition is brutal…. but Madame C. is a complete egomaniac. Your company is bankrupt? Fire the workers. Bank makes bad loans? Get the rules changed. People catch you lying? Lie some more until they believe it. This is Hillary’s M.O.

But a turd is still brown and stinky on the inside, no matter who she hires to polish it. And polish, and polish and…..

Yep, Hillary is a Clinton to the bone. It is never her fault! Even the Democrats are seeing her as a Bush President. She ran a secret organization as first lady and she will as President.

I listen to CSPAN call ins and a large number of people believe that Obama is a Muslim. This was a Hillary dirty trick and may just work. Can America take 8 more years of lying in the White House?

    Hillary Is Scary

The litany of Hillary manipulations and lies is too lengthy to catalog – from Whitewater days, Rose law firm records, and her position/non-position on licenses for illrgals.

Sandy, please clue me in on the secret organization she ran in the White House, this is one that I don’t recall.

Talk about the ultimate disaster, how about a matchup between Hillary and Huckabee? That could truly mean considering a move to another country.

She kept her meetings on health care and education reforms hidden from her own party members. Joyce Milton exposed her actions. Dick Cheney did the same thing when he met with his oil and energy companies. When this happens in the private industry it is one thing but when it happens in the white house, it must be disclosed. She was asked to show her notes and documents and she even hid her Rose law firm records when asked. She was also unable to furnish her notes on her association with Vince Foster when he “allegedly” killed himself. She went through his office and removed many notes and documents.

I wrote a magazine article that said it appeared to be actions from the Kremlin, not our capital. I crossed a lot of Democrats and Republicans when I wrote and I have been declared a liar especially for some the commentaries I wrote here. Americans don’t seem to like the truth when it makes their political parties look bad.

My problem is that I am old enough to remember when the White House was a building to be proud of and discovering the trash that has lived in it has made me very unpopular. I think the most dishonest was Bush 41. His manipulations to change America into a world Empire nearly broke my spirit. Doug will testify that when his son was running for POTUS, I was so out of control I was banned from CHB. The fruit does not fall far from the tree and the Bush family has been unAmerican since old man Prescott. Some people are simply evil and look at everything for the power it brings them. This is the second family that broke all the rules of honesty to bring themselves power….The first was the Kennedy’s followed by the Bush family.

    Sandy

Thanks for the clarification. I very much remember the the Hillary health care fiasco and it’s secretive functioning. I was remiss, however, in making the connection to your term “secret organization”.

Sorry to learn that you were banned by Doug from CHB for your comments re GWB. Can’r imagine a sweet lady like you acting in such a manner!

For what it is worth -

…it is the Philadelphia INQUIRER -

…an “enquirer” is an entirely different publication -

…as well as a different city and state!

As I said in the beginning, the more public interative exposure Hillary has the worse she will do. She just doesn’t have what it takes to be a candidate. Those running for office must make you like them and trust them. Her husband had that ability in spades. She is just the opposite. She is not a person you like or feel comfortable with when you have the opportunity to see her interact with others. And she is totally uninspiring. Her speaches do not motivate, they are just words she says.

In short, she’s a dud. What scares me, is if she runs against a likeable witty guy like Huckabee, she would lose. What greater disaster could there be?
