"Also, 53 percent now say he deserves to be re-elected; 43 percent say he should be fired, making it the first time in an AP-GfK poll that more people say he should get a second term than not."

Hey - guess what? It actually doesn't matter! Sure, give the guy another term. Or not.

“I have the impression that Barack Obama works really hard for Americans and that I see his leadership as something that should be continued,”

I know of no one who spontaneously constructs sentences like this.

“the way that it happened was the correct way”

Great! Now we just need to find out what actually happened in order to improve the quality of the next Goldstein assassination poll-boost gambit!

Spot-on my friend in thought...! : )

This guy we have for our current 'interloper in chief' wouldn't have made a pimple on ol' "giv'em hell Harry's" butt.

When Truman retired there wasn't even a presidential pension. It took some Congressional shame and a few years down the road to implement a pension for former Presidents. Years later with our now 'Imperial Presidency' in full swing, the percs have become obscene for mostly a bunch minimalist personalities that have held this high office; all, simply 'running dogs' for corporate interests, "We the People" be damned...!

Within the first three years of his presidency, Harry Truman had to make decisions on a number of issues, long now forgotten:

1. Authorizing the first use of nuclear weapons.
2. Authorizing the peace treaties with Japan and Germany.
3. Basically "starting" the Cold War to meet Soviet expansionist policies, beginning with Greece and Turkey.
4. Authorized the Berlin Airlift.
5. Pushed for, and accomplished the Marshal Plan for Europe.
6. Committed The U.S.to the establishment of Israel.
7. Integrated the armed forces of the U.S. despite objections from his generals and admirals.

I cannot recount them all, but these are some highlights of a president who firmly believed that if one can't stand the heat to get out of the kitchen. Warts and all, this nation (and the world) was fortunate to have someone of Truman's ilk in the White House at that time.

And now? There is no kitchen heat for President Obama because he essentially orders out. I expect by next year the narrative will be that Mr. Obama killed Bin Laden in hand-to-hand combat.

We have sunk so low that this single, pissant event elevates the president to stratospheric heights?

The death of Bin Laden and $4 gets you a gallon of gas. So what.
