Patients visiting therapists are expected to bare their souls but when they visit Manhattan therapist Sarah White, she bares herself.
While her patients, mostly men, White strips as they talk until they are talking to New York’s self-proclaimed “naked therapist.”
“For men especially, who are less likely than women to go to therapy, it is more interesting, more enticing, more exciting,” White tells The New York Daily News. “It’s a more inspiring approach to therapy.”
In talking to The Daily, the iPad newspaper, the 24-year-old White said “the goal is to show patients I have nothing to hide and to encourage them to be more honest.”
Her 30 patients (to date) shell out $150 a session for her unique combination of therapy and voyeurism, which start with video feeds and then lead to face-to-face appointments.
Although White studied psychology in college, she is not a licensed professional and also works as a computer programmer.
Her patients say her credentials may be as skimpy as her attire but they claim her body is post graduate level.
