Obama supporter a failure as ambassador

In this Nov. 11, 2010, photo released by the U.S. Air Force, then-U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg Cynthia Stroum speaks to the crowd during the Veteran’s Day ceremony at the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial. Stroum, as a supporter of presidential candidate Barack Obama, was a superstar whose financial backing of the campaign landed her a plum diplomatic posting in Europe. As America's ambassador to Luxembourg, the wealthy Seattle-based businesswoman was a disaster. According to an internal State Department report released Thursday, Feb. 4, 2011, less than a week after she quit, Stroum's management of the U.S. Embassy in the tiny country was abysmal.
