Kucinich settles the great olive pit lawsuit

That was fast: Two days after suing a congressional cafeteria over a “dangerous” olive pit he found in his sandwich, Rep. Dennis Kucinich has settled the case out of court.

The terms weren’t disclosed, but in a lengthy message posted on his campaign site, the Democratic lawmaker details the pain and suffering he went through after accidentally chomping on the “errant” pit.

“Though I would prefer to focus your attention on my work dealing with the profoundly important issues that face our nation, such as job creation, getting the economy back on track, and ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, it seems that some are more interested in discussing my personal dental issues,” Kucinich writes.

The lawmaker says biting down on the olive pit split a tooth and caused an infection that ultimately resulted in several surgeries and having to be outfitted with six replacement teeth.

Needless to say, Kucinich writes, “I don’t want to have to make another dental visit for a very long time.”
