I think Newt’s calling will be a good way for a self-serving politician to create an unhealthy diversion within his party that will ultimately leach away “some” votes from a viable candidate. But more than that…Newt’s run will be a costly waste of resources. Where’s Ross Perot when we need him? I miss the charts.

IF he’s the GOP choice and “we” elect the lying hypocrite who helped get us in the mess we’re in then we are dumber than even H. L. Mencken could imagine.
Newt’s Republicans did not honor even 1 of their 10 commandments in the ‘Contract With America.’, unless one one was to borrow and spend like a drunken sailor (sorry dad) and leave our kids with the mess.
Term limits?? Fiscal Restraint?? Still waiting and wanting.
Carter was the worst in modern times ??? Had we enacted his energy policy alone we’d not be fighting two unwinable wars and drilling 1 mile deep for oil.
RR, GHWB, and GWB ran up 11 Trillion of our debt, if that isn’t irresponsible than what is?
Trillions for wars, but not billions for our own unemployed.
Thankfully ‘The Greatest Generation’ will not be around much longer to see how their spoiled rotten baby boomer kids pissed away their country.
Sixty five years after WWII, one might wonder if we really won.
