GOP Senator used prostitute service

Republican Senator David Vitter, a Lousiana politician who campaigned on a record of “family values” paid for prostitutes from the service of the infamous “DC Madam,” Deborah Jeane Palfrey.

Vitter admitted Monday night that he has committed “a very serious sin in my past” after his telephone number appeared on Palfrey’s call list.

Vitter’s spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.

“This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible,” Vitter said in the statement. “Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there — with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way.”

Vitter’s telephone number was among phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates, the high-priced call girl ring that is expected to ensnare a number of Washington’s rich and powerful.

Vitter campaigned on traditional Republican themes of “family values” and is often critical of what he calls the “immorality of society.”

Deborah Jeane Palfrey was charged in federal court of racketeering by running a prostitution ring that netted more than $2 million over 13 years, beginning in 1993. She contends, however, that her escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates, was a legitimate business.

Vitter, 46, a Republican in his first Senate term, was elected to the Senate in 2004. He represented Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District in the House from 1999 to 2004.

Vitter and his wife, Wendy, live in Metairie, La., with their four children.

It seems Vitter was also dipping his wick in a Louisiana whorehouse, according to another madam.

In an interview a few years ago, his wife, Wendy Vitter , noted that she would be more like Lorena Bobbit and less like Hillary Clinton when it come to forgiveness.

Consequently, Davey probably uses a metal cup when sleeping.

I expect that some diligent muckracker will be releasing Palfrey’s client’s names to effect maximum damage. Forty six pounds of paper contains LOTS of numbers.

For the party of “Family Values”, it will be death by a thousand cuts.

He did everything but claim that he “only got a massage”. What a schmuck!

This Madam has been charged under the racketering statutes. They said she netted 2 millionover 13 years. I did a little math ad found that to be a profit of just over $150,000 a year. As a “racket” that isn’t a very impressive number. In fact, it is less than any member of congress is paid annually. Also they had to work a lot more days each year. Makes congress look like a better “racket” to me.

I just don’t think that we can slam the republicans on this one – I mean Barney Frank had a boyfriend running a male prostitution ring out of his basement at one point, did he not? And while bubba Clinton may not have used hookers, apparently his fly was on “auto-open”. Then look at luminaries like JFK, FDR – none of ‘em were saints. Sex is obviously not just a party specific activity – and paying for it isn’t anything new either. I’d be willing to bet that the “oldest profession” was created when politicians gathered or armies deployed – so it’s really 2nd or 3rd.

Unless this DC Madame catered only to conservatives, I’d expect some mournful wails to start coming from the Dem’s anytime soon. Given the “courage” demonstrated by the democrats since they got into power, I wonder how they’re going to deal with being outted? Mommmyyyyy …..

    Peace

    Steve

Oh – and I probably could have lived the rest of my life without seeing Rosie O’Donnels mug in an advert ….

For me, it’s more about the hypocrisy than about the patronage of prostitutes. When you hold your party and yourself up as “the party of family values,” and you also permit your party to make that same claim on your behalf, then you are more accountable than some bunch of admitted whoremongers – like the Dems.

If anyone can disagree with that logic, they must be in the pretzel business.

I guess another (human) caught being “human” ie. less, much less than perfect. Where to go from here, hell if I know. Feel for his wife and children. Others get hurt when we/me/you/and they get caught with our underwear in our hands.

  8. gene  July 10, 2007 at 6:08 pm

Oh, forgot to add…hope it was worth it but we all know the answer to that one.

  9. Beagle  July 10, 2007 at 6:49 pm

What is the problem with sex between consenting adults? Okay, I forgot about the hypocrisy that the GOP is famous for.

  10. gene  July 10, 2007 at 8:22 pm

You know…I was thinking…”surprised”….me, I’m Mr. nobody, kind of a educated “Joesmuck” so if I get caught…who cares? I’m classified as a “John” pay my fine and go home, end of story. Of course, unless I happen to acquire one of those nasty STDs. Then its off to the Doc for some antibiotics, assuming its not the worst of the worst.

Mr. Senator here though is a “somebody” and its going to be a living hell because of that. I prefer local coverage as opposed to national coverage. Ouch!! its going to be real tough for him from here on out. No!!!..I’m not crying for him, mabe for his wife and children.

Makes me glad to be a local “nobody”.

Whores using Whores, they all do. Capitol Hill is rife with whores masquerading as our congressmen and senators and judges and executive branch bimbos. They are all whores and in the end, it is the American People who get fucked.

“This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible,”…Senator David Vitter-R

Does this mean he’s going to resign, pack his bags and clear out of D.C. asap as we all hope he should?! I really don’t care whether he visited a prostitute or not. I, like many taxpayers am sick of these guys and no doubt a few gals screwing around on our “dime and time” while on the U.S. Government payroll…!

He can stay down home in “Loosiana” and play around with the local “ho”‘s, but not while he’s away in D.C. screwing his U.S. based constituents;i.e., “we the people” while mindlessly supporting the Bushista agenda, costing our country 12 billion bucks per month…! Oh I forgot, no doubt ol’ Dave serves up the best “pulled pork” sandwiches courtesy of the U.S. Treasury “deli”…I guarantee! :))

Does anyone actually buy these canned apologies? They sound to me so obviously phony its funny.

  14. Carl Nemo  July 10, 2007 at 3:47 am

Of course not Adam. He’s simply been caught with his “c..k in the cookie jar” is all… :)) He wants to simply do a “mommy I’m sorry” schtick then continue on as a U.S. Senator, husband and family man as if nothing has happened. Given a chance to sample the cookies again and he’d be first to do so…!

You have to wonder when your local Congressman complains about just too much pornography on the Internet.

Mr. Congressman! What have you been watching?

Actually, as the first guy to come out and make that public statement he’s set the bar rather high for the rest who will be implicated in the days and weeks to come. He didn’t engage in any of that Clintonesque balderdash about defining sex, he didn’t try to pass off the responsibility, rather he did what someone in a leadership position should do when their mis-deeds are about to be exposed – he accepted full responsibility and put any questions regarding his actions to rest.

Perhaps it is a contrived statement, but at least it wasn’t some bullshit rationalization or attempt to transfer guilt – let those of us without sin or pasts or skeletons in our closets lob rocks –

  18. gene  July 10, 2007 at 9:29 am

I agree with you Steve but these individuals are expected to maintain certain standards because of their elevated position. Leaders are expected to be examples, especially for the young.

I don’t judge this repub for what he did, hell when I was in Korea…well lets just say I had several “girlfriends” but I was a “nobody” and not married.

He should resign is what I’m trying to say here……period.

  19. Joe Lawrence  July 10, 2007 at 8:28 am

God loves an honest hooker, just as God must, surely, despise lying, hypocritical elected representatives.

  20. gene  July 10, 2007 at 9:20 am

First, can’t these repub clowns be charged or is prostitution legal in (D.C.)?

Second, I suspect God is going to be somewhat extra busy (listening} over the next several weeks as the repubs line up to speak with him. So we other sinners might want to give him a break and whole off on some of our request…for a while.

Several questions about the Senator’s behavior come to mind. #1 A good looking young US Senator can’t find woman on his own or at least with the help of his staff members? #2 Why does he use a phone number that can be traced back to him when calling the service? #3 While Jesus may be OK with granting the Senator forgiveness, I wounder if his wife and four children are as forgiving? #4 I wonder if his constituents will be as forgiving when the next election rolls around? The American people love to forgive a sinner who repents so I suspect the voters will keep him in office.

  23. Bill Jonke  July 10, 2007 at 11:36 am

    I know; he’s “shy.”

  24. gene  July 10, 2007 at 11:46 am

Are you ever right (wolverine)!!! “Why does he use a phone number that can be traced back to him when calling the service?”

Hey I know I’m not the brightest light bulb in the box but dam, I would hope that even (I) could have seen that one coming or at the very least, a possibility. Arn’t their still pay phones in D.C.?

This Senator must have been thinking with his D**K, you think?

  25. Steve Horn  July 10, 2007 at 1:41 pm

    Wolverine –

#1 A good looking young US Senator can’t find woman on his own

going through an escort service, he was hoping for a safe, no strings attached, private affair. Finding a girl on his own would have been far more dangerous.

#2 Why does he use a phone number that can be traced back to him when calling the service?

    He’s an idiot.

#3 While Jesus may be OK with granting the Senator forgiveness, I wounder if his wife and four children are as forgiving?

They’ll claim to forgive him and play it up during the campaign to keep him in office and retain the status of being the family of a Senator.

#4 I wonder if his constituents will be as forgiving when the next election rolls around? The American people love to forgive a sinner who repents so I suspect the voters will keep him in office.

So long as the pork keeps rolling into his state and he can lay claim to the jobs, the infrastructure improvements and lean on his loving family who are willing to overlook his personal faults, it’s quite likley.

We do need to examine, while we’re judging this guy, our own lives and behavior. Are we looking for saints in the legislature or are we looking for effective representatives? There’s a strong puritan thread that runs through our collective conscious – that’s why we have silly laws making prostitution illegal – I don’t buy this hold them to a higher standard than the rest of us argument – we should all hold ourselves to a high ethical standard – were we to do so this would be a much stronger nation.
