So as I understand all this, we are hiring an army to protect our armies. Why, with so many troops over there carrying modern weapons can't they protect themselves?
What happened to the Marine Guard at our embassies and consulates? Are the marines incapable of protecting themselves too?
And if our soldiers can't protect themselves, how can they protect us?
I feel so naked and unprotected that I think I will move to some Communist country. At least there Big Brother will be watching me.

Some contractors from Blackwater / Xe pulled my military teams bacon out of the fire in '05.
They had different ROE! Thank goodness! Fields of fire are not a great concern when you are down range.... We had no casulaties, No next-of-kin letters to be written, We put no American soldiers into body bags. All thanks to their assitance.
To quote Mr. Carl: "Blackwater/ XE may provide protection for our embassy personnel and dignitaries, but at what price? They have links to smuggling, murder, and demonstrate gross inefficiency in controlling the field of fire in order to minimize collateral damage to civilians and infrastructure; I.E.., they are “slobs” when it comes to what they do and the price we must pay in litigation to investigate and indemnify their gross negligence isn’t worth it. No, I wouldn’t hire them, but I’d surely fire them if I had the power to do so."

Are you basing your response on experience or Monday morning quarter-backing? With all due respect , Sir. I do not care, What I do care about is that thanks to a team of these guys, We had to put NO Americans in body bags. Yes, we all care about collertal damage and injuring / maiming / killing innocents, We are trying to protect the innocents who do not have the ability to protect themselves or their families. That is why we are doing this.
When I have troops committed to combat, I'll vote for the "shooters"not the politicians or the bloggers. respectfully, Jim0001

Sad to say Carl that the centralized power to right the ship no longer can exist in this hideous veil of gossamer rigging.
This spider has eaten her young down to the gunwales, and plugged the bilge pumps with the flesh of our founders resolve.
Awash and rudderless in the north sea of diplomacy , nary but Pirates among them, whilst safety now lies only within ruthlessness.

What sea of deceit can sustain life ?
