Blackwater mercenaries still getting government deals

Blackwater mercenaries: Murderers for hire still working for Uncle Sam (AFP)

The North Carolina mercenary firm once called Blackwater is still getting lucrative government contracts.

The CIA recently awarded Xe Services, the massive guns for hire company run by former Navy SEAL Erik Prince, a $100 million contract to guard agency facilities in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the world.

The new contract comes on the heels of a $120 million deal with the State Department to provide “protective security services” at U.S. consulate facilities in Afghanistan.

The contracts come in the same month that Iraq expelled 250 former employees of the mercenary firm and three years after company operatives opened fire and massacred Iraqi civilians in Baghdad.

The company is known for its “cowboy mentality” with gung-ho security personnel recruited from the ranks of military special forces units.

Company operatives, including Xe chairman Prince, are under investigation for a variety of crimes, including threats, blackmail and murder.

CIA and State Department officials, however, claim the company has “undergone some serious changes” and defended the decision to award a new contract to the mercenaries.

“They have people who do good work, at times in some very dangerous places. Nobody should forget that, either,” a U.S. official told The Washington Post.

This contract security firm is good. They have never lost a client…. including Obama and Hillary’s State Dept. When you are in a bad place and bad people want to do bad things to you, you get the best protection the taxpayers money can buy.

    Yo Jim0001,

They can’t help being good at their game when a company motto is …”kill’em all and let God sort’em out”… / : |

Let me understand this, if you were going into a bad place unarmed and had to hire a security detail you would hire:
      A.) Mother Teresa
      B.) Low bid
      C.) a Brownie Scout troop

Tell me you were just making a flip comment

Incidently Pope Leon was the original who said “Kill them all, let God sort them out” somewhere around the 14th / 15th century…

$100 million to ensure Blackwater is on our side I would have to say is money well spent.

How about in Latin Jim0001…”Neca ecos omnes. Deus suos agnoscet.” The words were first said by Arnaud-Armaury, the Abbot of Citeaux, The Papal legate for Pope Innocent III in 1210 prior to an old-fashioned, down home hunt for heretics of which 100,000 were murdered in the name of Jesus Christ. / : |

Blackwater XE may provide protection for our embassy personnel and dignitaries, but at what price? They have links to smuggling, murder, and demonstrate gross inefficiency in controlling the field of fire in order to minimize collateral damage to civilians and infrastructure; I.E.., they are “slobs” when it comes to what they do and the price we must pay in litigation to investigate and indemnify their gross negligence isn’t worth it. No, I wouldn’t hire them, but I’d surely fire them if I had the power to do so.

Sad to say Carl that the centralized power to right the ship no longer can exist in this hideous veil of gossamer rigging.
This spider has eaten her young down to the gunwales, and plugged the bilge pumps with the flesh of our founders resolve.
Awash and rudderless in the north sea of diplomacy , nary but Pirates among them, whilst safety now lies only within ruthlessness.

What sea of deceit can sustain life ?

Some contractors from Blackwater / Xe pulled my military teams bacon out of the fire in ’05.
They had different ROE! Thank goodness! Fields of fire are not a great concern when you are down range…. We had no casulaties, No next-of-kin letters to be written, We put no American soldiers into body bags. All thanks to their assitance.
To quote Mr. Carl: “Blackwater/ XE may provide protection for our embassy personnel and dignitaries, but at what price? They have links to smuggling, murder, and demonstrate gross inefficiency in controlling the field of fire in order to minimize collateral damage to civilians and infrastructure; I.E.., they are “slobs” when it comes to what they do and the price we must pay in litigation to investigate and indemnify their gross negligence isn’t worth it. No, I wouldn’t hire them, but I’d surely fire them if I had the power to do so.”

Are you basing your response on experience or Monday morning quarter-backing? With all due respect , Sir. I do not care, What I do care about is that thanks to a team of these guys, We had to put NO Americans in body bags. Yes, we all care about collertal damage and injuring / maiming / killing innocents, We are trying to protect the innocents who do not have the ability to protect themselves or their families. That is why we are doing this.
When I have troops committed to combat, I’ll vote for the “shooters”not the politicians or the bloggers. respectfully, Jim0001

So as I understand all this, we are hiring an army to protect our armies. Why, with so many troops over there carrying modern weapons can’t they protect themselves?
What happened to the Marine Guard at our embassies and consulates? Are the marines incapable of protecting themselves too?
And if our soldiers can’t protect themselves, how can they protect us?
I feel so naked and unprotected that I think I will move to some Communist country. At least there Big Brother will be watching me.
