My nephew is off to War college very soon after 18 mo’s in Afghanistan.

I can’t wait to look him in the eye.

My son in law just came home from Iraq and met his 3 mo old daughter.

I had a very hard time looking him in the eye knowing it needn’t be this way.

All angst was relieved whence his knowing demeanor told me ,

we won’t blame it all on you til your dead.

I thought readers might find Admiral William Fallon’s (ret) assessment of General Petraeus interesting. Fallon, now retired had a sterling naval career exhibited by his no nonsense way of assessing situations and personnel.

Hmmm…U.S. Army basic training is eight weeks and we can’t get the Iraqi and Afghani forces trained in seven and nine years, respectivley?

It’s time we packed up and leave.
