Normally, Doug is spot on, but this time he isn’t.

Anyone who knows economics also knows the last thing to grow in a recovering economy is jobs in the private sector.

Look at what happened in 1937 when FDR gave into conservative wing-nuts to cut government spending and “balance the budget.” His recovery immediately changed directions and headed south again. It took until 1939 for the GDP to recover to 1937 levels. It took until 1940 for unemployment to fall to 1937 levels. One year longer for unemployment than GDP to recover. Let’s get real.

The only way for jobs to come back faster is for government to do the hiring; then we would see real bitching.

Why now insist that historical trends must be different just because Obama is in charge?

Doug, you are acting like the rest of the” things must change immediately” crowd. It took 28 years to create the mess Obama inherited and now that he’s not solved it in 18 months you’re ready to cast him to the dust bin. That’s what we need, put the idiots who gave us this mess back in charge. Obama more than any President in my lifetime tried to work with the minority. All they did was say “NO” to everything even policies that they had previously championed.
When Rush,the real GOP leader, hints that the greatest natural disater in the Gulf was caused by eco-terrorists, and that Goldman Sachs ety. al. are victims even you have to cut Obama some slack.
As shabbily as W was treated by the left wackos, Obama has had worse from the far right wackos. Again when 30% of Republicans do believe that Obama is a citizen, Christian etc. did you actually think all of the countries problems would be cured by now?
