Lawmakers vote to subpoena Condi Rice

U.S. Democratic lawmakers voted on Wednesday to subpoena Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to testify about administration justifications for the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.

On a party-line vote of 21-10, the House of Representatives’ Oversight and Government Reform Committee directed Rice to appear before the panel next month.

Republicans accused Democrats of a "fishing expedition." But Democrats said they want Rice to explain what she knew about administration’s warnings, later proven false, that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger for nuclear arms.

"There was one person in the White House who had primary responsibility to get the intelligence about Iraq right — and that was Secretary Rice who was then President George W. Bush’s national security adviser," said committee Chairman Henry Waxman, a California Democrat.

"The American public was misled about the threat posed by Iraq, and this committee is going to do its part to find out why," Waxman said.

I was listening to NPR yesterday afternoon (which makes it a fairly normal afternoon for me) – and heard Robert Dallek discussing nixon and kissinger, their relationship, and the Nixon administration, which he described as possibly the least transparent administration this nation had ever seen, with the exception of the current Bush administration.
He also described Nixon as always needing to be assured that what he was doing was correct – his rather prejudiced view of the world and his inability to admit to his own failures.
It all rang very true – it appears that RM has been reincarnated – as GW …
As Kissinger was sort of the token intellectual Jew in the Nixon whitehouse – could Condi be a token intellectual black in the current white house? I wonder if she (Condi) is the root of racist jokes the way Kissinger is supposed to have been …

-And lie and lie and lie, and spin it into total Bull-crap

    “My Husband and I”

To the tune of “Cigareetes and Whiskey and Wild Wild Women,” as recorded by Red Ingles.

Oh my husband and I we’re doin’ quite well
Sendin’ thousands of Muslims to fry in Hell
A new Middle East is what we demand
If we don’t get it, we’ll make it all sand

A new Middle East to my husband’s plan
Our Crusade’s gonna make it a bran’ new land
And those who don’t like it will surely fail
My husband and I we shall prevail

We’re now the rulers, we’re runnin’ the world
My husband decides and his foes I derides
Together we make up a regular team
With Laura alongside, it’s all quite a scream

Condi not wanting to testify under oath about the pre-war intelligence is proof that she is a liar and his hiding a ton of information from the American people!

    I say…arrest her.

Svengala, the ConDoll, Worst President Ever.
A very real danger, I believe.
Through impeachment, heart attack, whatever, Cheney goes, Bush appoints Svengala ConDoll as Vice-president, Negraponte, very familiar with Iran through his dirty Contra deals, becomes Secretary of State.
Something: impeachment, hunting with Cheney accident, certification as a lunatic, assassination… happens to Bush and the ConDoll is president.
In 2008, she runs as incumbent, the insane and/or corrupt 34% who support Bush, vote for her plus lots of blacks and lots of women.
Lieberman, Nader and other Independents split the anti-Svengala vote and she wins at a canter.
The Worst President Ever is yet to come.
Svengala has been very shrewd. She was National Security ADVISER and, at one time, was proud to assert that invading Iraq was her idea. We don’t hear that anymore. Nor do we now hear her outrageous lies that compare with Cheney’s.
Her retreat has worked for her and we rarely see anybody blame her for her devilish handiwork.
Her academic record is not at all brilliant as we often hear. Her main academic achievements are simply memory feats — by a woman who “can’t recall” the most important communication in her lifetime.
Learning languages does not require high intelligence, only memory. Even stupid children generally manage fluency by about age five.
Idiot savants are especially good at memory feats.
Nor does a career in oil require high intelligence. Oil executives do not produce brilliant insights or inventions, they are purely administrators and the characteristic that best furthers a career is the psychophantic compliance that has driven her political career.
And she plays the piano with all the grace, style and verve of a metronome.
Come to think of it, she might be an automaton.

Condie Rice….you know I don’t think I have the words to describe the stinch I spell when her name appears or even better, I see her face in the news. I know of only one other individual that is more repulssive, Bush himself. This gain of liers and murderers proves that evil truely exsist.

This brain dead nation deserves these clowns. I personally am looking forward to the end of this sorry excuse that american has become. The end is near.

    LIES!

  8. SEAL  April 26, 2007 at 12:28 am

IF – Rice appears before the committee it will be another embarassing episode for the nation following the pathetic example of America’s Attorney General. In their glee at being able to demonstrate the dishonesty and incompetence of the Bush administration I think the democrats have failed to recognize the woefull image of us they are portraying to the world. I can only imagine the head shaking laughter that must be going on in the living rooms and bar rooms in other countries.

However, I suppose it must be done. It will have no effect upon Bush’s diehard base. The only way to get to them would be to have Bush appear to answer questions. But that will never happen unless they impeach.

will be her litany! In fact she’l probably be spending every free weekend available at the Gonzales residence learning how to say those words with “gravitas” prior to her testimony…:))

    Man – Condi won’t speak – I’m shattered.

Actually it’s just another example of the incredible arrogance this power mongering administration displays on a regular basis why they are allowed to live “above the law” is something I’ll never understand.

After all – Dylan once penned the very true words “to live outside the law you must be honest” –

    Peace

    Steve

(and Condi – my offer of dinner has hereby been withdrawn!)

Dam is this shit really happening or am I having another nightmare. I just spoke with a friend of my wife and she ask me about the turmoil that (seems to her) to be exposing itself in everyday life. I honestly did not know what to tell her. How can you explain the evil that has completely consumed this nation in a few sentences. It would seem that people who don’t know the details are starting to suspect that “things” arn’t what they seem to be anymore. Their “Alice and Wonder land” world is starting to become a nightmare. All I can say is they haven’t seen nothing yet.

Condi…you are a f**king joke and we will be laughing at you as you try to protect that dickhead you work for, assuming you would call it work.

  12. Bill Jonke  April 26, 2007 at 11:46 am

I wouldn’t believe her anymore even if her tongue, or her Prada shorn foot, came notarized.

  13. JudyB  April 26, 2007 at 1:20 pm

The question is…will Bush “allow” Condi to testify under oath? Oath or not oath she will lie, cover-up and play dumb before we learn anything from her.
Last night I watched Bill Moyers journal..it was there that I got all the answers that I or anyone else needs about the big lie. As anyone with any functioning brain cells knows by now, this war was entirely based on lies and false intelligence reports eminating from the White House, the media was leaked those lies and somehow the White House had control of what the major media aired on the subject. The old adage that if you repeat something often enough you will be believed sure proved to be true in this case. This Moyers show should be rerun and widely publicized. You can get now on line at :pbs.org/moyers/journal
    ..its worth your time
