With tongue firmly planted in cheek, I hereby nominate John McCain for War Czar. He, W, and Cheney are the only people in this country who think the war is justified.

McCain KNOWS Iraq ! After all, he took his little stroll to the markets in Baghdad. Being War Czar for such a "safe" country should be a "lead pipe cinch" !!!

Life has been a slide for him. He's failed at most of his endeavors and people forget he had to be "appointed" to the Presidency because the Supreme Court failed in their duty to order Florida to do a recount. So the PNAC, neo-cons squeezed their man into office and the rest is very ugly history. So he's broken his "pulltoy"; i.e., the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and he wants to find some duty chump general to do the work for him while he hangs out in Crawford or goes on endless junkets for the rest of his term while "we the people" suffer under his continual maddening policies.

When the term "Drug Czar" was hatched during the Reagan era I went ballistic concerning the title, calling and writing my elected reps. I simply asked them, why in the United States of America do our leaders want to use the term Czar? It's a Russian term for Caesar. What's with these mattoids that they are obsessed with terms that represent an absolute dictator. It's as if they don't have a clue nor care about America's founding principles. Gee isn't simply a theater commander good enough, but "War Czar" to me is like another nail in collective psyche of our once great Republic. Enough is enough...! I suggest that citizen/patriots regardless of party affiliation get motivated and contact their duly elected "republicrat" and simply tell them that George needs to earn his paycheck as Commander-in-Chief; i.e, The War President, a job he once embraced so dearly after the Twin Towers fell. It's as if he's having a tantrum because he's bored with his war pulltoy and wants something else to play with for a bit, then break it too...?! :| www.conservativeusa.org/megalink.htm

Nemo nailed this one. A war czar is just a euphemism for someone else Bush, Cheney, and Co. can hide behind for the next two years and ultimately blame for the disaster. No one with any honor, credibility, or ethics will take that job and it will either go away or be handed to another Gonzales-like flunky.

The problem with Americans is that most of them probably have no idea that "czar" is a Russian word meaning "Caeser." Under all the attendant circumstances maybe "Kaiser" is a better and more descriptive term.

No general in his right mind would take the job of "Czar" of the Iraq war. Would you want to be in charge of a war we got into based on deliberate lies? A war in which we've captured and tortured innocent civilians? A war of occupation in which 99.9 percent of our troops don't speak the native language? A war run so far by a bunch of smug, smirking Neocon couch warriors?

Congratulations to our retired generals for having the fortitude to say, "No thanks."

What the hell is Gates supposed to do then?

This administration is so fouled up they need to end the play acting and resign.

That may be the only way that they can hope to earn a little respect!

Rodney really had more respect than anyone in the Bush bunch.

Why does Dubya even want to do this? We already know he doesn't LISTEN to the advice of the military leaders who have lived, breathed, and studied warfare. He has disregarded all of their advice and expertise up to this point. No, I suspect, as others have already pointed out, this is just to have a "fallguy" to blame so they aren't blamed themselves.

But, even that assumption is faulty because it is well known that Dubya has declared himself as the "Decider" and the "War President." He will do what he damn well pleases no matter what.

Hats off to those generals who have told him to go pound sand.

Bush,: wants someone else to take the heat, He's tired of the butt-whipping he continually gets for his [failed] war in Iraq. Barbra's little boy George wants someone else to take the whipping, so he can place the blame for a [failed] war policy on another caesar. Unfortunately there is no Brutus around, or is there?

Interesting - um - George - as you've pointed out many times - you're "commander in chief" which means YOU'RE supposed to run the war dude. Maybe if Georgie had paid attention in officers candidate school he'd have a better understanding of military matters. He could always ask Cheney (oh wait, Dick wasn't even in the military) ... how about KKKarl Rove ? Opps - guess not .....
