I shopped ’till I dropped

A young shopper takes a break and examines her booty after an exhausting day of fighting the crowds in Old Town Alexandria. Pleasant, fall-like weather descended on the East Coast over the weekend, bringing throngs of shoppers and sightseers out to places like Alexandria and away from the protests over the International Monetary Fund meetings in Washington just across the river. The crowds in areas like Old Town and the area malls were much larger than the turnout for the protests, where organziers predicted “thousands” and got “hundreds.” When the weather is good, there are better things to do than protest the IMF.
