Does it seem like every time you want to drive anywhere, the road is always under construction? That’s because it is. According to the American Automobile Association, more than 45 percent of the nation’s highways and streets are under construction in this busy summer season. That means 45 our of every 100 miles of Interstate, 4.5 out of every 10 miles of city streets and you can just bet that the 45 percent of streets and roads under construction will be the ones that are either closest to where you live, the ones you use to get to work and the ones on the route you are driving for vacation. The AAA recommends planning extra time for driving during rush hours, on routine trips and on vacation. In other words, if you are driving on vacation this upcoming Labor Day weekend, plan on seeing a lot of orange cones.
