What could they possibly have to debate?
Will they justify what President Bush’s last 6 years or will they come up with a plan to save the Republican Party? Will any dare to talk about the level of corruption that has taken over the GOP in a new level of terror that is inexcusable? Do any of them realize that their once proud political party is living on borrowed time?
I’ve always been one to keep an eye on the underdog especially in politics. I learned this morning that nine Republican candidates have been invited by Nancy Reagan to meet in California at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation in conjunction with MSNBC and The Politico. The opening debate will be on May 3rd and the second on January 30th just prior to the primaries in many key states.
The invitations sent out and accepted are as follows:
Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas, former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, Senator John McCain of Arizona, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former Wisconsin governor Tommy G. Thompson.
This will be the first of two debates at the Simi Valley Ronald Reagan Library. Oh my! What could they possibly have to debate?
Will they stand in line to justify what President Bush has been doing in the last 6 years or will they come up with a new plan to save the Republican Party?
Will any of these candidates dare to talk about the level of corruption that has taken over the GOP in a new level of terror that is inexcusable?
Do any of these men even realize that their once proud political party is living on borrowed time?
We have no idea where Senator McCain sits on any issue as he seems to be in a whirlpool to win anyone’s votes and will be subject to change at a moment’s notice.
Governor Romney has changed his opinions so many times that it is obvious he is still questioning his positions as a person and his positions as a Mormon.
Rudy Giuliani has stated he is all for individual freedoms and for people looking at his own freedoms may find them a bit loose.
Senator Brownback and Governor Huckabee are both Christian social conservatives who simply may want legislation against abortions and Death with Dignity.
Governor Thompson has not yet stated his position on social conservative issues and may be waiting to see how these issues ring with the voters.
Congressman Ron Paul is the sole candidate who believes in a limited government and a “hands off†position as far as our individual choices goes. Dr. Paul has also stated that he is against the Iraqi war and will close it down when possible.
Who will ask the questions to these men about the level of lies and deceit that has developed since the Bush Administration was organized? I have never seen a weaker group of men running for any position with the exception of Dr. Paul. I cannot even imagine any Republican trying to clean up the current mess.
Is there even one who realizes that America has lost her honor and integrity under Republican leadership? They all allowed Bush a free hand at destroying American sovereignty. In my opinion the Republican Party has lost all integrity by simply giving Bush the power of a dictator. Sorry gentlemen, you are not the candidates that we need.
Is there one who has the courage to stand up to this rotten apple named Bush who ruined the entire basket of Republican apples? If there is, his name is Doctor Ron Paul of Texas.
