I’m pleading with the American People to give some consideration in requesting that the Conservatives within the Republican Party leave before the GOP is destroyed. Why would anyone do this? I’m literally pleading for all Republicans who have an interest in a strong U.S. Constitution and a firm grip on freedom to ask the Conservatives to butt out.
I’ve been a loyal Republican since I was able to vote at 21 and that was in Ike’s Presidency. I studied the two parties and with the help of my very Republican grandfather, I voted for Ike and stayed working for the GOP every two years until 1992. The Republican Party changed from the limited government, balanced budget and individual freedoms to a shot at building an Empire with America being the home base. Our Constitution did not call for a repeat of the Roman Empire and our government was clearly defined as a Constitutional Republic. A lot of Republicans walked out on President Bush 41 and the number I read was 7 million Republicans joined with either Perot or the Libertarian Party.
The change in the Republican Party took a nose dive into corruption and the panic from the Republican National Committee was heard all over America. I knew how to bring the party back…It was simple…..Return to the Republican Agenda and the voters will return to the Party. Instead the Party made a deal with the Christian Coalition and if they would register and vote for the GOP the new President would issue faith-based grants and the deal was made.
Nobody was paying attention to this new lobby group and their list of promises required. I won’t repeat the list of prohibitions but they were unconstitutional even though they worked and Governor G. W. Bush would be President Bush 43. He was ill-equipped and filled in the Cabinets and Administration with (how can I say politely?) people with little if any integrity. Bush passed out power to men and women who saw an opportunity for their own power base. It was if nothing mattered to the White House except to pass those prohibitions he had promised for his votes. Why does the story of Faust come to mind here? Bush surrounded himself with like minded religious people who wanted to legislate our combined morals.
It was a time when Islam had attacked American embassies and we did have a number of Intelligence Agents who tried to warn the White House that there was trouble afoot. It began to look like the tea party from Alice in Wonderland and we paid dearly for the distraction and incompetence on September 11, 2001.
It appears now in 2007 that the Republican Party has failed to stand up for the economics of supply and demand and for the defense systems necessary to keep America prepared. Our congress stopped working as Republicans and began to change into religious Conservatives. It divided the Party into two separate agendas with a new focus on religion, open borders and a terrible lack of control over our imports and exports. It began to feel as if America was nothing but a port to receive and send Chinese imports all over the world. Our schools were in shambles and the Border States found themselves in a terrible debt when millions of sick Mexicans were brought in; many in ambulances. Pregnant Mexican women took put their lives in jeopardy to cross the borders anyway they could.
The war in Afghanistan was absolutely necessary but the Bush Conservatives pushed Iraq into the mess and we were entirely unprepared for the number of injured and deaths coming in from the war zones. The Bush Conservatives were unprepared for Katrina and other disasters and they simply looked like deer caught in the headlights. THEY DID NOT LOOK OR ACT LIKE REPUBLICANS! They looked like whipped puppies with their tails between their legs and they played dumber than dirt.
What are we going to do? Without the Republican Party taking their place on the side of aisle that is allocated to them, America will fall 100% into the Democratic Party. Are we prepared to allow the government to take over our lives from birth to the grave? Hell either side of the aisle has given up on any individual choices and freedoms and another horrible situation has arisen in the last 4 years. The Republican Party has become hopelessly corrupt. These new Conservatives have decided to work for a Religious America and anything is justified if it helps this cause. I’ve been sitting here in my office for 4 years trying to find a solution to restore the balance of the left and the right and can find only Conservative terrorism running the store.
A third Party? People aren’t smart enough to look into a third party and would there ever be a chance that the Conservatives would bow out of their power surge in the government? They must know they have hurt the Republicans by demanding that all GOP candidates must be pro-life and homophobic. 2006 should have made the point that the American public does not want Conservatives to interfere with our federal government. Will these same voters simply vote against all Republican Candidates?
Is there any Republican running for President who can run as a Republican and not as a religious conservative? I don’t think so. The religious conservatives have got the GOP hog tied with a guarantee that they will never win anything again. The division within the GOP has destroyed our plans for peace, our plans for a decent education for the kids, a decent health care program unless we accept socialized medicine. It has brought in a new level of electing candidates using dirty tricks of slanderous comments. I think the religious conservatives have lost their moral base all the way around. Every debate and election that they are involved in will be a repeat of Bill O’Reilly and Ann Coulter with a cheering section led by Rush Limbaugh. If anyone can find a real Christian in this political power group it would be a miracle. Their energy is to win as if they are back in the Crusades and the more blood they spill the louder they will cheer.
Is there any chance that a group of Republicans can stop this nonsense and try to bring back the balance of honest differences between the Democrats and the Republicans? There is a need for both in our government as America needs a voice in honest business practices and compassionate responses to our disasters. In the last 4 years we have neither voice being heard. America cannot survive without a balanced government where all Americans can find a comfort zone to vote for.
