It’s fine that the writer realizes what diversionary drivel all of this really is, which makes her (and all of the others who ignore serious issues to focus on this bilge) ‘mea culpa’ seem disingenuous.

Many people may “consume celebrity crash-and-burn stories like a sumo wrestler at a free buffet,” but all this signifies is just how dumbed-down and vacuous we’ve become. It’s no wonder that we as a society are struggling to hang on to our democracy.
