Like you Griff I've made contact with my reps all three of mine being of the same persuasion; ie., 'Dimocrats'. I sent the duty emails and called their offices. The aides that answer phones are reticent about discussing the weighting of incoming calls either for or against a measure. I'm a fairly smooth talker and manage to distract them with enough small talk; how's the weather in D.C. etc., then redirecting my query as to sentiments on this bill. I seem to get the drift that its fairly even which means to me our Congressional leaders will no doubt squeeze another piece of nightmarish legislation through, no differently than the Patriot Act, TARP, the stimulus bill etc. In the end they will always vote to screw us over, then beating their chests that they've come through for the American people...NOT!

You, I, and others have read through the bill including extracts of the content and one can sense in short order there's more to this bill than simply healthcare; ie, it's about ever more draconian control over American citizens along with large segments of our business enterprise; ie., banks, insurance, autos, now healthcare alone which represents a whopping 20% of our economy. We have an ever-growing, intrusive federal government with a socialist bent forcing its way through our collective front doors without a warrant. They want much, but deliver little to nothing relative to the amount of money they squander annually on all their questionable endeavors from the waging of war to now healthcare... : |

I'm afraid they will pass this bill. One thing all the commotion over the summer did was to buy them time to drum up support and tire out the resistance - and add 600 pages.

Unfortunately once we find out how bad this is it will be far too late to do anything about it.

Mr. McClellan have you missed your daily dose of antidepressants...?

If so, then you need to "chill" by whatever means necessary and learn to enjoy their ongoing, unlubricated, "gritty" penetrations with a smile... ; )

Since we are big strong men, shouldn't the rally cry of the politician be "woman and children first"?
As real men "we" can wait and be the reality our founders embraced, fair across the spectrum of sacrifice though ultimate it may be.
This toilet paper proposition hasn't to be done in one fell swoop, stop the bleeding first with position in line (moneyed interests) nullified.
It's not necessary for the guvmint to wipe anyone's butt as long as "anyone" can earn an honest living.
We are nothing until the weak and the meek amongst us are shielded. Putting fathers back to work is the only form of insurance we need now. Without work we don't have a heartbeat to begin with.

P.S. Might I compliment all contributors regarding the wealth, OOPS, I meant health legislation.
I am approaching informed so keep it coming.

Your double post didn't connote a need for meds. It was simply my attempt at wry humor.

Yur doin' great good buddy and we're both tuned to the same frequency concerning what needs to be done; ie., an Rx for the Republic! : )
