GOP Rep: Michael Jackson was a ‘low life’

Music superstar Michael Jackson was a "pervert" and "a child molester" and the media has disgraced itself with the day-in, day-out coverage of his death, a US lawmaker has charged.

In a two-minute video posted on the YouTube Internet site, Republican Representative Peter King fumed that tributes to the late "King of Pop" honor a "low-life" while people like US troops fighting overseas are ignored.

"Let’s knock out the psychobabble. This guy was a pervert, he was a child molester, he was a pedophile. And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country?" King said.

Jackson was acquitted in 2005 of child molestation charges.

"I really think the media has disgraced itself, I think that too many people in public life have made fools of themselves by talking about Michael Jackson as it he was some kind of hero," said King.

"There’s nothing good about this guy," the lawmaker, whose home state is New York, said in a video message recorded in front of a local chapter of the American Legion veterans’ group.

"He died, he had some talent, fine. There are people dying every day — there’s men and women dying today in Afghanistan, let’s give them the credit they deserve," he said.

"He may have been a good singer, he did some dancing. But bottom line is, would you let your child or grandchild be in the same room with Michael Jackson? What are we glorifying him for?"

In the video, King said he wished the media would honor people like teachers in rough neighborhoods, AIDS clinics volunteers, police and firefighters, and US troops serving overseas.

In 1982, I too was taken by Michael Jackson via “Thriller”. Other than that, I don’t really care one way or another about him. As for Representative King – maybe it takes one to know one???

  2. JerryG

Peter King has always been a jerk in Congress. The consummate NY’er jackass who is bought and paid for by certain lobby group!

So this is how the once moderate GOPer is running for the Senate from NY? Maybe he’s trying to make up to the far right for his opposition to Pres. Clinton’s impeachment. FWIW, which seems to matter little these days, Jackson was acquitted of the charge by a jury. Yeah, I know, so was OJ. So much for innocent until proven guilty. Better have a lot of money and good lawyers if you ever get charged with anything. Sic transit gloria mundae.

Don’t know if Jackson was guilty or not, since I wasn’t there.
History shows anyone with money has a big target on their back. I know a lottery winner who got so many wacky suits filed against him, he finally left the state.
Michael was an emotional dwarf. Doesn’t matter if he is guilty or not, people will talk.
Let the man, whomever he may have been rest in peace.
Of all things, this death should not be political.

Granted, I wasn’t at all a fan of Jackson’s lifestyle, whatever the hell it was, but certainly appreciated his creative talents.

Peter King probably can’t seperate himself from the belief that he’s a rock star…and/or demi-god, otherwise known as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Most members of both Chambers of Congress can’t recognize the fact that they aren’t rock stars, but rather just a public servant.

Talk about a low life…Washington is overflowing with low lifes…perverts, etc. And now this King guy, a solid member of the Washington Low Life’s Club has the balls to call Jackson a pervert. What deep dark secrets could jumb our of Mr. Kings closet? Whatever they are…his perversions just haven’t been exposed yet.

No doubt King would like the voters to wake up and pray to him on a daily basis.

It is beyond my ability to understand men such as this U.S. Rep. Peter King. ( NY ) I am sure that he, from his exalted perch, can see past any of us mere mortals that have no hopes of attaining such an exalted position. That is fine with me, but I am reasonably sure that Michael Jackson will not be in Hell to greet King when he arrives there one day. There…Rep. King, how does it feel to be so judged ? But that is alright…you are still alive to defend yourself if you are being wrongfully judged. Allow me to remind you that Michael Jackson was judged and found innocent of the charges against him back then.

I was no fan of Jackson,( Being of a different generation ) but I approved of his strong determination to continue to live his life despite so many obstacles. His courage and his extraordinary talent were awesome. After all the bad press he received for so many years from the Media, maybe they all feel that they owe him some good press now..even if it is after his death…a death that I am sure they feel more than a little responsible for hastening. So I say ‘Back off’ and allow his Family the time for a decent burial, and a quiet time to grieve for the Michael that they all knew and loved.

The whole world cannot be so wrong and This Rep.King right. He has the look of a man that has swallowed sour grapes. If he wants to Blame anyone for the saturation coverage that drowns out everything else that is happening..put it where it rightfully belongs..the Media. Methinks it is a guilty conscience that spurs it on. Michael Jackson cannot be held responsible, now can he ?

My intuition tells me that the MSM is using this Event as a Smokescreen to hide other News from the American people. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it. We will soon know.

It’s not one sided like Peter King claims. People know Michael Jackson, and know he wanted to help kids, and did such things as pay for desperately needed medical procedures.

Hopefully the Michael Jackson memorial will not only improve Michael Jackson’s image, but help other people branded pedophiles without having done something that really hurt a child.

We think society is getting ever more tolerant, first toward Communists and then toward gays, but we are actually maybe going in circles with new people to scapegoat. We need to stop hysterical punishments Not that legalizing consenting sex regardless of age would be any solution.

The idea that one is the most valuable because of looks and one looks best at 11 or 12, would be a very hung up world. And children in the middle of the dating games would lose their childhood. But let’s expand the Michael Jackson memorializing to take the sharp edges off a terrible witch hunt. The pain we all know Michael Jackson felt is shared by hundreds of thousands who have been similarly accused.

Please join me in standing up to this witch hunt,

Rep. King spoke the truth!! He expressed what the majority of “normal” people are thinking. I am completely appalled by the coverage by the media.

“Hopefully the Michael Jackson memorial will not only improve Michael Jackson’s image, but help other people branded pedophiles without having done something that really hurt a child.”

…and exactly what do you mean by – and I paraphrase – “not hurting a child?”

  10. RichardKanePA

Bogofree, you asked what I mean by hurting a child?

Clearly if a young girl meets someone she can look up to and trust, then feels and intense pain between her legs. Someone saying something horrible will happen if you tell. Looking down on a child as a little slut, but that was mostly done in the past by jealous adults.

Learning a disappointing lifestyle in future relationships has to fit in somewhere as hurting a child. The Megan Law witch hunt has no relationship to the harm done. I hope you look at,

Once Communists and Gays were considered the cause of all wrongs, now its pedophiles. And if you remember the case where a Scottish Teacher called a camp owner a pedophile because the camp photos all had the boys shirtless, it can get pretty vague.

I hope learning that Micheal Jackson is a sensitive human being whatever his problems I hope can be extended to others in the same boat.
