Bribe is a pretty harsh, very specific word. Perhaps libelous unless you have some darned good evidence to back it up.

You're right Gazelle, and I did use the word "donations" in quotes for the newspaper here in Montana. However, denying health care to Americans, because you're in the pocket of a multi billion dollar industry, that really, shouldn't even exist, is pretty harsh as well.

Insurance should be OUT of health care period. There's plenty of ways for Insurance companies to drain consumers' pockets; health care shouldn't be one of them. Rates are rising not because people are forced into Emergency rooms as the spin goes, but because people aren't going to fork out $1500 a month for a family of three, only to find out they don't have enough coverage when they need it. Government, IS the proper vehicle for distributing health care. Billionaires can still have whatever they want. This is about the rest of us.

Corruption, is always harsh, and 75% of Congress, is just that. They get paid whether they are in the majority, or minority, whether they do their job or not. And they get premium health care, forever, as I understand it.

Frankly, "bribe" IS the appropriate word, why else would Baucus and the rest of the Yellow Dog Democrats resist the people's will?

As far as libel goes, Baucus's take from the Health Insurance industry, is a fact. Bayh and his wife sit on the board of Eli Lilly; Senator Dodd's wife serves of the boards of four pharmaceutical companies, according to the associated press. Facts.

Health care for profit, is immoral. This is the closest we will get to changing the health care system, but not with Harry Reid running the Senate, and good old boys, from both parties, obstructing that change every step of the way.

Government officials and their families should be barred from the boardrooms and offices of any Corporate Borg as long as blood relatives sit in the offices and chambers of legislation.

This would curb the dynasty builders that we have been witnessing lo these many years and be a direct shot in the ass of the supposed Blue Bloods.

Nepotism, from my view, sickly permeates our society and stands as the main source of corruption from the top to the bottom of the employment and legislative food chain.

The idea that it's who you know, not what your qualifications are is repugnant and an insult to the principles set out by the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. Just ask any fully qualified Lady or minority who has been repeatedly passed over for promotion about these inequities.

Good heads up Gazelle, but I never the less have to agree with Zuzu. Appearances are what they mostly have been able to deny as we are bereft of real watchdog activity and it is reality in this day and age that we are the ones left to effect change if there is to be any.

I couldn't help but notice that you wrote "live in Montana" and not "from Montana." So, you either have an odd speaking style or you're not a Montanan. Or you are and are for some reason distancing yourself from it. Either way, as someone who is actually from Montana, I could really care less what you think about our senator. You can care about your own senators, politics in your own state, and all that. I generally vote left, but I'm proudly not a member of the left. I'm glad our senators are closer to the middle and it is a point of pride. If you don't like it, no one asked you to come and no one is keeping you from leaving.
