A political ploy

After reviewing more about the proposed AIG bonuses, mostly to executives but also to around 6,400 employees, what seems to be occurring is merely a political ploy by AIG — of which almost 80% is owned by the U.S. Government — to get out of its legal contractual obligation to pay out these bonuses.

In other words, AIG wants the government to legally absolve the company from paying out those bonuses. I’m afraid it is a smart move by the company, however outrageous and distasteful in its justification.
