What a misleading article , Gore never accused bush of anything , although he certainly should have . What occured in 2000 and 2004 was ” election ” fraud , quite different from ” voter ” fraud . The republicans always throw up a smoke screen claiming voter fraud , which is rare and has no impact on elections . They have only been able to come up with but a few actual cases of such supposed fraud and practically all have been explainable errors , not real fraud . What it does allow them to do however is put barriers up for poor and minority voters through voter challenges , cageing and other slimy tactics . In florida they had blocks of minority voters tossed off the rolls by claiming they were felons because they shared a name or had some supposed problem with the ballot . These voters had their votes tossed and most often had no idea it had happened , when and if they discovered they had their votes disqualified without a valid reason it was to late . In Ohio where I live the scumbag secretary of state ken blackwell had riduculous rules put on the weight of the paper used for ballots causing more ( guess who’s ) minority votes to be rejected . He also destroyed the ballots from several counties that he had been ordered by the court to keep because of shall we say ” questionable ” counts , nothing was done . So , voter fraud is a gimic republicans use to divert attention and disinfranchise voters , election fraud is the real problem and how republicans steal elections .
