An explanation for the State of our country

Students lie, cheat, steal, but say they’re good

In the past year, 30 percent of U.S. high school students have stolen from a store and 64 percent have cheated on a test, according to a new, large-scale survey suggesting that Americans are too apathetic about ethical standards.

I wasn’t aware that good, ETHICAL people lie, cheat and steal! But this sure does explain how GW Bush remained POTUS for 8 years.

I mean how can you condemn someone else’s actions when you do the same thing?

Simple answer is YOU CAN’T! Check this out!

Other findings from the survey:

_Cheating in school is rampant and getting worse. Sixty-four percent of students cheated on a test in the past year and 38 percent did so two or more times, up from 60 percent and 35 percent in a 2006 survey.

_Thirty-six percent said they used the Internet to plagiarize an assignment, up from 33 percent in 2004.

_Forty-two percent said they sometimes lie to save money — 49 percent of the boys and 36 percent of the girls.

Despite such responses, 93 percent of the students said they were satisfied with their personal ethics and character, and 77 percent affirmed that “when it comes to doing what is right, I am better than most people I know.”

It would almost be funny if it weren’t so pathetic.

These are young people. They supposedly LEARNED their personal ethics from their PARENTS. So it would be logical to conclude that their parents lie, cheat and steal as well or at the very least CONDONE it.

So perhaps, we should stop complaining about the politicians who screw us over and clean up our act FIRST!

There’s an old saying that when you point the finger of accusation at someone there are 3 more pointing back at yourself.

If we were STILL an ethical nation, we would not have allowed GW Bush to be in office for his entire term. We would have moved heaven and earth to remove the fascist a-hole.

But we didn’t. We sat back and whined about this and that and took absolutely no action to remove him or stop his fascist policies.

Today, people are already attacking our new President Elect who may be the most ethical POTUS we’ve had since Eisenhower. Or maybe not. Time will tell.

But one things is certain. As long as we condone lying, cheating and stealing in our personal lives, we have no right to condemn politicians who do the same. I have said in the past that there cannot be 2 standards of right and wrong. This survey shows that perhaps there is not because apparently BOTH people and politicians lie, cheat and steal in large numbers.

This would certainly explain the state of our country!
