During the previous past 2 elections, my faith in America as well as perhaps the rest of the world’s faith in the American people had been shattered. Last night it was restored.
The American people weren’t shut down by fear. Instead they stood up for our future.
The American people werem’t scared by lies and hypocrisy. The stood up for truth and the American way.
The future won’t be easy. One man can’t solve all the problems that GW Bush and his party have created or dig us out of this hole that they have tried to bury us in. We have to do our part.
We have to participate and make our leaders accountable to us instead of being accountable to corporate America.
In the past 8 years, hopefully we have learned this. Hopefully the record numbers of people who voted across America, see that change only occurs when we take an active and vested interest in what happens to our country.
Today is the first day of a new era. No longer can a group of young people blame their plight in this land because of the color of their skin. No longer can the black man blame THE MAN for his plot in life. Because if a black man can hold the highest office in America perhaps the world, anyone can be or do anything they are willing to work hard for and believe in with all their heart, mind and soul.
Yes, hope truly has been restore to America. And as Bob Dylan once said in a song from my youth (which is perhaps appropriate considering how many young people turned out and voted)….”The times they are a changing.” All, I can say is it’s about time! Now we can get back to an America of the people, FOR the people and by the people. If not, we’ll just find ourselves in the same old mess 8 years from now.
