The Republican National Committee is apparently doing its bit to stimulate the economy, spending more than $150,000 for clothes and accessories for its vice presidential candidate.

The Website Politico is reporting that financial disclosures by the party since late August include the following for Palin:

— Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York … $49,425.74.

— Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis … $75,062.63 on one spree in early September and large amounts on others as well.

— Hair and makeup … $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September.

Remember all the crap Republicans gave when John Edwards got a $400 haircut?

September payments were also made to Barney’s New York ($789.72) and Bloomingdale’s New York ($5,102.71).

Macy’s in Minneapolis received three separate payments totaling $9,447.71.

An additional $4,902.45 was spent at Atelier, a high-class shopping destination for men. I can only assume First Dude Todd needed a couple of outfits.

No wonder Republicans think folks who make $250,000 a year are just middle class.

Oh, well. At least Palin will get something for her efforts. She can take all her new clothes home with her. They should look very nice out on the tundra in January.
