There is one thing the Republican Party is good at — Covering up their illegal actions. Bush/Cheney have in fact made an art of it in order to retain power.
John Bush, oops I meant John McCain apparently is using all his political leverage to make the investigation of his VP’s illegal actions go away at least until after the election.
Key Alaska allies of John McCain are trying to derail a politically charged investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin’s firing of her public safety commissioner in order to prevent a so-called “October surprise” that would produce embarrassing information about the vice presidential candidate on the eve of the election.
In a move endorsed by the McCain campaign Friday, John Coghill, the GOP chairman of the state House Rules Committee, wrote a letter seeking a meeting of Alaska’s bipartisan Legislative Council in order to remove the Democratic state senator in charge of the so-called “troopergate” investigation.
So we have a potential POTUS and VP who are engaged in the same type of activities that we want to impeach Bush/Cheney for.
“How can this possibly be read as anything but a partisan attempt to shut down a legitimate investigation that was approved and funded with bipartisan support?” said one state Democratic legislative aide, who asked not to be identified because of the political sensitivities.
Now, I have always been told, that if you have nothing to hide or if you are innocent then you should have no problem with any investigation. I’ve always thought that was a load of BS but nevertheless not only has MS Paslin hired an attorney but so has her husband. 2 Attornerys! That’s a lot of money! I wonder who is footing the bill for their personal attorneys? Perhaps the McCain campaign, the RNC or even possibly the taxpayers of Alaska? Perhaps they do have something to hide. There is substantial evidence that this woman who is now one step away from being our next POTUS used her position as governor to exert personal pressure on people for political favors and retaliated against anyone stood in her way. Are we sure she isn’t GW’s long lost second cousing because this all sounds like same song, different verse from what we have had to endure for the past 8 years.
When the “troopergate” story broke over the summer, Palin adamantly denied that anybody in her administration exerted any pressure on Monegan to fire Wooten. But only weeks later, a tape recording surfaced in which another one of her top aides, Frank Bailey, was heard telling a police lieutenant, “Todd and Sarah are scratching their heads, ‘Why on earth hasn’t this, why is this guy [Wooten] still representing the department?'”
Yes, there is evidence of wrong doing. Enough to get a bi-partisan majority in the Alaska State legislature to agree to investigate it long before it became a political time bomb. That’s why the attorneys. That’s why the involvement of RNC and Team McCain. That’s why the effort to COVERUP THE TRUTH ONCE AGAIN!
But then Team McCain has clearly demonstrated that they will stop at nothing, NO LIE IS TOO BIG, to seize control of our goverment over and over and over again.
Now on the same topic of COVERUP, different note, we have Team McCain apparently covering up Ms Palin’s ignorance from the American people by keeping her away from the press.
Can you imagine that this woman who again is one step away from being our POTUS can’t talk to the press intelligently?
According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don’t care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace — in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough’s show — the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin’s scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.
Watch the exchange for yourself.
