It is not new news that our food, our water and our air are tainted. Our air is dirty, our water full of pharmacueticals. Recalls on agricultural products are at their highest in history.

I am not a big fan of cloned food or genetically engineered food. I have blogged on this before always with comments from those who support this procedure saying that it is "safe". And my answer has always been that only time will tell if this type of food is safe.

Afterall, time has always been the determining factor in the end. So it was no big surprise when I ran across the following article...

Safety of cloned animal products uncertain: EU agency

Having traveled in Europe, I can tell you one thing they take very seriously is the safety of their food and do a decent job of keeping policies based on politics out of their agricultural and livestock.

The European Union's top food safety agency said on Thursday cloned animal products may not be safe and further study was needed.

"It is clear there are significant animal health and welfare issues for surrogate mothers and clones that can be more frequent and severe than for conventionally bred animals," Vittorio Silano, chair of EFSA's Scientific Committee, told reporters.

"For cattle and pigs, food safety concerns are considered unlikely. But we must acknowledge that the evidence base is still small. We would like to have a broader data base and we need further clarification."

"That has been one of the challenges throughout this work," he added.

So all I ask is that agricultural and livestock products are clearly labeled whether they are genetically engineered or cloned products. That way people are free to choose what they buy. Anything less is nothing but deception. Perhaps we should sue corporations for deception if they do not label their products properly with all the information that someone needs to make an informed choice.

Granted, there will always be uninformed people who will go for whatever is cheapest. But they should remember that....

the love of money is the root of all evil!

Perhaps one of the first issues that we must demand the next administration deal with is this issue of providing us with clean air, clean water, untainted food, and to work together with other countries to preserve our planet instead of feeding on its precious resources until we have devoured everything like a bunch of locusts.

Wasn't there a movie about that?

Update: He's another unsafe product!

What’s Lurking in Your Countertop?

But he stopped in his tracks in the kitchen, which had richly grained cream, brown and burgundy granite countertops. His Geiger counter indicated that the granite was emitting radiation at levels 10 times higher than those he had measured elsewhere in the house.

“My first thought was, my pregnant daughter was coming for the weekend,” Dr. Sugarman said. When the technician told her to keep her daughter several feet from the countertops just to be safe, she said, “I had them ripped out that very day,” and sent to the state Department of Health for analysis. The granite, it turned out, contained high levels of uranium, which is not only radioactive but releases radon gas as it decays. “The health risk to me and my family was probably small,” Dr. Sugarman said, “but I felt it was an unnecessary risk.”

What are we paying these high priced bureaucrats for anyways? Oh, now I remember...we are paying them for their political contribution to GW Bush and the Republican party. This has got to stop on both sides.

If we added up all the salaries of these high paid political DO NOTHING hacks, the total we are paying for people to sit on their fat behinds and surf for porn on the internet has got to stop ASAP!

We need only look at the

We need only look at the banana trade to see how cloning is a bad idea. And studies have concluded that genetically modified crops do not produce more, but actually decrease yield. It has also been reported that there may be a link between colony collapse disorder in honey bees and genetically modified crops. If this is true, we may have brought armageddon on ourselves via our own arrogance and faith in companies to properly test their products.

It's interesting to note they also think that genetically modified crops are linked to the rise in colon cancer, which is what killed Tony Snow.

There is some evidence

There is some evidence surfacing these days that the culprit for Colony Collapse Disorder is the pesticide Clothiandin, which is manufactured by none other than Bayer. Take two and call me in the morning.

Mr Woody: "And studies have

Mr Woody:

"And studies have concluded that genetically modified crops do not produce more, but actually decrease yield."

Why, why, that's outrageous that it would produce less, even if the corporation that made the GM came right out in the article and said the modification was not to increase yield. How dare Monsanto let facts get in the way of a perfectly good distortion of the truth?

"they also think that genetically modified crops are linked to the rise in colon cancer." They do? Who is this "they" person? I read the article three times and I missed that. I must have my stupid hat on again.

The moral here: read stuff like that article with a very jaundiced eye and with questions in your mind. This was not a news article, it was propaganda.

Churlpat -- a plutarch by any name is still a plutarch

That's why I include links

That's why I include links so you can decide for yourself. The original article is from is from the UK

What is outrageous is taking the promise (propaganda) of GM crops to feed the world and instead turn it into a monopoly on seeds and pesticides from Monsanto. This is what happens when profit is all that matters.

I've found globalresearch.ca to be a reliable read these last few years and I will link to them again.

One question that I have

One question that I have concerning Frankenfoods is this: What does eating genetically modified foods do to our own genetic makeup? Are we being forced into an evolutionary shift, an evolutionary branching away from the natural order? Re-engineering what took nature thousands of years to develop?

Where do we get the audacity to think that we can somehow improve on nature, that we are in some way above and beyond the laws of nature?

Here's one article outlining a study by the Committee for Independent Research and Genetic Engineering at the University of Caen, France, that details hormonal changes along with increased kidney and liver toxicity in lab rats that were fed Monsanto Frankencorn.

This is the same corn that was approved for human consumption in 2006 and is probably sitting on your neighborhood grocery shelves or in your fridge right now. How many of you had corn on the cob at your Fourth of July festivities?

This is starting to piss me

This is starting to piss me off.

Toxic Chemicals Found in Laundry Products, Air Fresheners

A study of top-selling laundry products and air fresheners found the products emitted dozens of different chemicals. All six products tested gave off at least one chemical regulated as toxic or hazardous under federal laws, but none of those chemicals was listed on the product labels.

Apparently, in this fascist state that masquerades as a republic, democracy or whatever you want to call it, the only thing that matters is the "love of money."

We might as well just scrap the FDA and all those other bureaucracies that are suppose to keep us safe and aren't doing squat.

It would save us Billions of tax dollars and wouldn't make a damn bit of difference for all the good those SOB's are doing on YOUR TAX DOLLARS!

A gov't agency that can't do its job is WORTHLESS!

It might as well not even exist if all it is, is a waste of our money!

And the worst part....

Steinemann chose> not to disclose the brand names of the six products she tested. But in a larger study of 25 cleaners, personal care products, air fresheners and laundry products, now submitted for publication, Steinemann found that many other brands contained similar chemicals.

We can't even know what products are toxic! You know the FDA a couple of years ago found Benzene in Diet sodas and wouldn't disclose what sodas they were in. Eventually, they had to disclose the information.

Obviously, any product made under this fascist regime is harmful. We might as well scrap most bureaucracies and start all over again. It would be just as good and a helluva lot cheaper.

Manufacturers are not required to list the ingredients used in laundry products and air fresheners.

This is BS! Manufacturers should be required to list ALL ingredients on ALL products. PERIOD, END OF STORY!

You can be rest assured that

You can be rest assured that if it sits on a grocery store shelf, it is toxic. Diet or sugar-free products are far worse than their non-diet counterparts. Saccharin (former artificial sweetener approved by the FDA and later found to be a carcinogen) has been replaced by Aspertame. Aspertame is banned all over the world and even Hawaii and New Mexico tried to ban it as well. Interestingly enough, Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle and oversaw its approval.

Hey Grif -- how come nobody

Hey Grif -- how come nobody talks about this Bull**** during their campaigns? I haven't heard one candidate for ANYTHING even talk about this stuff.

Cancer is on the increase and one thing is for certain....it's coming from toxicity of the environment.

Every single study links toxic pollution, etc. to Cancer. For instance....cigarettes.....benzene is one of the ingredients that are toxic. Then you find out that several diet sodas have benzene.

Even some of the stuff that they say causes carcinogens like Sacarrin. I don't believe for one second that a person can consume enought sacarin to get cancer. I read those studies years ago and the amount of sacarrin they gave those mice would NEVER be ingested by humans.

But it proves that if you give a living creature too much of anything, it will produce unhealthy results.

But the Aspertame is bad stuff and we never heard squat about that until recently.

There is a certain reliance for the govt to protect our food, water, air....basically the things we need to live. But instead our govt is so big and so wasteful they can't accomplish a damn thing except to spend our money.

Personally, I am sick of it. And now we have sucalose. Who the hell knows what's in that although I have been told that it's a process I don't want to know about.

But again the worst part about it is the government won't even require companies to tell the truth on the labels.

This is one thing that has to change no matter who becomes our next POTUS and it will be us that will have to change it.

So consider it on the list of changes next year, once we get rid of the neo-con cockroaches that have infested our government in EVERY AGENCY! Once we get rid of these pests, then we can replace them or eliminate their jobs.

PS --btw, McCain has supported each and every Bushie action against FULL DISCLOSURE on this issue of labeling.

Sucralose is produced by

Sucralose is produced by chlorinating sugar (sucrose). This involves chemically changing the structure of the sugar molecules by substituting three chlorine atoms for three hydroxyl groups.

Of note, DDT was also a chlorinated molecule. So the theory goes the more Sucralose you eat, the higher your chances of nasty side effects as it is absorbed by your body despite manufacturers claims.

We add chlorine to our pools to kill bugs and micro-organisms. Seems stupid to put it in our food!

I've always stuck with plain old sugar. Never have been able to eat any of those artificial sweeteners. Now I'm glad I did.

And yet they dare to tell us

And yet they dare to tell us that our food, water and air, in fact everything we buy is safe!

HOGWASH!

The FDA (which stands for FOOD and Drug Administration) needs to either be disbanded or every last one of them replaced.

Perhaps we should have an election and let the people who are consuming these poisonous products decide.

Or perhaps we should just sue the FDA...afterall that's the American way! isn't it?(wink)

No wonder Cancer is steadily increasing! They are poisoning us for the LOVE OF MONEY!

»

Since you noticed it's not

Since you noticed it's not just the FDA. Every department now puts the general well-being of the People last. The Labor Department encourages outsourcing. The FDA allows dangerous and untested chemicals and additives. The EPA promotes lowering Clean Air/Water standards.

Can you see now how we are already living in a fascist nation? These departments were originally set up to protect the People from abuse, but are now being used to enable that abuse. It's showing up in every single department. This has to be a directive from the very top. It couldn't happen any other way.

»

You and I are in total

You and I are in total agreement that America has become a fascist state and been so for quite a while now.

The problem is most people in America don't even understand what that word means!

Because it's not a wedge

Because it's not a wedge issue, and it has nothing to do with national security or welfarism. We have handed our futures and our lives over to science and noone even bats an eye.
