I'm pretty lucky. I managed to set aside a ever more complex schedule of clients and court calls and clashes and confounded constipatory complications and find my whey in AustinShire, a lovely librul outpost in the muddle of Red Texas. NETROOTS NATION - a meeting of progressives, liberals and people who have had enough of Darth Cheney, George W. and Condi Rice. Last night we were given one hell of a surprise. Not only was Dr. Howard Dean giving the keynote talk (as always, energized, on topic, and convincing), but we had an unannounced guest speaker. General Wes Clark (ret) He spoke for not less than 30 minutes, without teleprompters, notes, or a written speech. And he spoke brilliantly. He managed to let the audience know just what sort of problems we face and how it was up to individuals to do their part in fixing them. It is easy to see how this man inspired troops to reach higher and give more, and to do their best for their leader, their country, and along the way, for themselves. Today starts off with several choices, including energizing folks to actually get off their fat butts, to insuring the we finally find and restore our legal system. I'll quote a few gems along the way.

Thank you Rob, I would love
Submitted by Sandra Price on July 18, 2008 - 2:12pm.Thank you Rob, I would love to read your reviews of this group's fixes. Restoring the legal system is probably the most important subject that should be opened up to everyone. At this point in time, we all should understand the law and how and who broke it these last 20 plus years. Which party will take on law enforcement starting with the White House and all the way down to Federal Judges? Is there anyone willing to hold the political criminals feet to the fire?
This is bigger than a partisan issue and should be a general complaint directed at D.C.
listening to Richard Clarke
Submitted by Rob Kezelis on July 18, 2008 - 3:55pm.listening to Richard Clarke is wonderful. What a knowledgeable guy.
Earlier, Harold Ford and marKos pseudo debated, with surprisingly few catcalls or boos.
A great conference.
Richard was the one who was
Submitted by Sandra Price on July 18, 2008 - 4:05pm.Richard was the one who was in the White House during the Towers being attacked. He kept a log of exactly what came out of the information telecomputer room and wrote it all. It was interesting to compare his time line log with the 911 Commission Report. I flipped over his first book and have all the others. He even has the most beautiful blue eyes, I ever saw.
