In typical Bush Administration fashion, the Treasury Department released the government's balance sheets on Friday, the Administration's designated bad news day, and in typical Bush Administration fashion, it is the third largest on record.

Should we really be surprised that Junior and the Congress continue to spend like it is going out of style? Maybe they know something. After all, the dollar has lost roughly 50% of it's value versus the Euro in the last six years. This is supposedly a strong dollar policy according to Hank "Sub-prime" Paulson.

Dick Cheney famously said "Deficits don't matter." Yet today we are spending $377.3 billion on interest on the public debt. It's only surpassed by Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, and the Military in the top 4 uses of our tax dollars. Deficits do matter, Dick.

These numbers likely do not include the cost of fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan today estimated at $5,840 per household or $2,147 per person and near a half a tra-la-la-la-la-trillion dollars.

America is going broke. This hard to understand because there is money everywhere, and that is part of the problem. Our money is everywhere, making each one in our pockets actually worth less because so many other people have what we have to trade. That's as simple as I can put it.

George Santayana said, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Hope keeps me wishing this is not our fate but what else could it be given our present course.

Or perhaps it will be many times worse, as many of us do not even have the paper money. Just plastic cards with numbers on them attached directly to the debt machine we call a banking system.

Maybe the currency won't crash, because of these same cards. Do we really care if our 1's and 0's are measured in Dollars or Amero's? Flip a switch and the numbers go up and down and they don't even have to take the time to print it.

The President and Congress need work together to immediately rein in spending and reduce the debt or we will soon pass a point from which America may never recover. Sooner than many think. But we already know they can't or won't stop spending. Not when 50% of American's are either employed by, or receiving some sort of aid from the Federal Government.

We know the people aren't up to the task of re-claiming their nation without a lot of folks losing everything they had. Just give me my Playstion, my wide screen hi-def, and broadband and I don't care if it's raining frogs I'm gonna sit here and shoot me some cops and hookers on GTA until I develop carpel-tunnel syndrome.

So get ready folks, it might be a bumpy ride. It all depends on if a critical mass of people end up broke out in the street, and if we can't come together as a nation, help one another, and stop the madness.

Janis told us all, "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose."

Preaching to the choir,

Preaching to the choir, woody. Preaching to the choir. Good commentary.

System of a Down told me...

Revolution, the only solution.
The armed response of an entire nation.
Revolution, the only solution.
We've taken all your shit, now it's time for restitution.

I'll wait for the Feds on the front porch.

We have to keep mentioning

We have to keep mentioning things over and over or else most people won't believe it even if it is true. Something I learned from Karl Rove.

Since you mentioned SoaD, what's with BYOB lyrics on the internet? Some say:

Blast off, it's party time
And we all live in a fascist nation
Blast off, it's party time
And where the f*ck are you?

Which is what I always thought it was. But some say:

Blast off, its Party time,
And we don't live in a fascist nation,
Blast off , its party time,
And where the f*ck are you?

Rather odd...one word change and the whole meaning is lost. Considering the rest of the lyrics, it really has to be the first set. But the second set is out there represented just as much.

Is it denial? Is it a true to life of example of doublethink in action? I think so! For those that have not read 1984, doublethink is:

The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them . . . . To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies — all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.

I think this will be my next blog post, doublethink in America today.

I'm quite surprised that

I'm quite surprised that someone here knows who SoaD is! Their official site says that the latter is correct. Doublespeak or sarcasm?

Either way, blast off...it's party time! And where the f*ck are you?

Wow, so I'm just deluding

Wow, so I'm just deluding myself. :)

I like all sorts of music. SoaD had a new, unique sound. I like that. Their political messages were just icing.
