Unfortunately, due to the complicity of the Mainstream News Media, America is at a crossroads – one that most citizens aren’t even aware of; our MSM is run by corporate interests, and even though some reporters would give anything to tell us the truth, they are stifled from reporting the real news by their corporate masters. We have one or two reporters that deserve the Medal of Freedom for their honesty and tenacity, like Keith Olbermann for instance – but his audience is too small to make a real difference, and the news I’m speaking of should dominate the media, in print , on the radio and on all of the nightly news reports, but instead, what we hear are bits and pieces of so-called news that fail to sound the alarm that America is dying, not a slow death, but our economy is close to a complete collapse, and if Bush and Cheney have their way, World War III could begin at any moment. Yes, it’s that serious, yet the MSM refuses to tell Americans the truth, traitors and cowards for refusing to honor their own beliefs in journalism and protecting the freedom and democracy that a “free press” traditionally provided to its subscribers. The framers of our constitution understood that a free press was essential to the survival of our democracy, and even on our own government’s website, these words are immortal and as true today as when our constitution was first written:
Without a free press, and I mean a news media that fulfills the obligation to our constitution who understand they are one of the first lines of defense against tyranny and despotism, liberty and democracy will not survive! When "the people" are no longer are aware of the truth, and are fed lies and propaganda under the guise of it being "news", it is impossible to hold-on to a democracy and the very essence of liberty and freedom - the spirit and principles which caused this great nation to be founded. Our press has been compromised, and now the only thing left to save our country is the people themselves - and to accomplish this seemingly impossible feat, the responsibility falls directly upon those of us who are aware of the truth, and we must not shirk our responsibility to sound the warning to our relatives and neighbors, and above all, find the courage to do more than write and talk about the danger(s) we face, but add action to our beliefs and help to bring about an awakening in the United States that will ring-out and reverberate throughout the country. Yes, we can do it, but it won't be easy, but the fruits of failure are so impossible to imagine that I believe the American people, acting together, can and will take action in support of our beliefs and work to restore our constitutional standards and the rule of law to a nation that has lost its way. I'm a firm believer in the separation of church and state, however, if a pastor knows that a tornado is heading directly toward his church, does he ignore it and pray that God will spare his congregation, or will he sound a warning for his parishioners to seek cover until the storm has passed? One of the ways that we can spread the word is through the real churches that believe in the true beliefs of Christianity - not the radical evangelicals that support war in the Middle-East to "help" bring-on the second coming of Christ; if you believe in God, then you know that he doesn't need any help in bringing about his wishes - and ever since I was a child I was taught that "God helps those who help themselves," and as grim as the real news is, we need all of the help we can get, and that includes America's thousands of churches whom truly adhere to the teachings of Christ. We all know that Bush and Cheney are being urged by Israel to attack Iran, being told that if we don't do it, they will do it themselves. The probability of war is so thick right now that it's being written about all over the world, yet Americans see little evidence in our own news that an attack is right around the corner, and the consequences of such an attack will forever change the face of the United States. Don't take my word for it, read it yourselves, and then print this article and give it to your neighbor, and ask your pastor to sound the alarm as well. As Americans who believe in the rule of law, like our Congress, it is our duty to help to stave off war, and hoping that Congress or someone else will do it has proven to be fruitless, akin to expecting President Bush to tell the truth instead of constantly lying to the public and destroying everything that Americans cherish and believe in, including our belief that no one is above the law, and that includes the President of The United States! In the past 72 hours, the rhetoric is reaching a feverish pitch, and Congress is vacationing while our economy is crumbling and America is marching toward another war, this one which will make gas and food so expensive that it will cause riots and poverty that will make the Great Depression seem minor in comparison. We have almost no food reserves, millions are losing their homes, and the task of feeding our families and keeping gas in our cars is becoming a national nightmare - and all of this has happened before the first bomb has fallen, which should make it obvious that if Bush attacks Iran, our ability to exist as a free and independent society will be compromised and likely lost forever! Be honest with yourselves; there's nothing left in the treasury, our troops are strained to the limit, and the United Nations has warned that attacking Iran will turn the Middle-East into a "Ball of Fire!" Read the war rhetoric that has been authored in the past few days, and whether you believe in God or not, it's time to enlist everyone you know, churches, unions, social groups, anyone and everyone that wishes to exist in a free and democratic society and warn them that we are directly in the path of a "tornado" of hate, loathing and greed, all of it brought upon us by a President that refuses to honor our Constitution and the rule of law. It's also important to know exactly "who" President Bush is, and what his family has stood for, and by understanding their history, it becomes even more imperative to stop him dead in his tracks and instead of "appeasing" President Bush as happened in 1933 with Prescott Bush, this time we need to prosecute the fascists that are attempting to overthrow America!
After you've read that article, it's easier to understand why everything seems to be falling apart, and Bush is intent on starting another war so he can declare martial law and finish fulfilling his Grandfather's legacy. Three years ago, those of us that predicted President Bush's invasion of Iraq was a precursor to war with Iran were called "conspiracy nuts"; now, war with Iran appears to be inevitable, and it could happen at any moment - and only you and "the people" can stop it before it starts. Below are several must-read articles that indicate that war is only a millimeter away: Congress Rushes to Encourage Iran Attack Report: U.S. 'preparing the battlefield' in Iran Iran to ready thousands of graves for enemy soldiers Iran: If attacked, we'll hit Israel, close oil passage Iran ready to strike at Israel’s nuclear heart Cheney, being the "Patriot" he is, actually attempted to block our negotiations and tentative peace deal with North Korea, demonstrating that in his case- a Neo-con doesn't doesn't change his stripes, unless doing so would further his warmongering agenda; I believe that Bush, in a sick sort of way, actually believes some of the garbage he is spewing, but has no understanding of anything more complex than "My Pet Goat" - more proof that he is nothing more than a puppet in the Bush crime family. Cheney appears to be the epitome of evil, snarling at his critics and not caring about next years elections; after all, he's made his fortunes and believes that he can disappear while the investigation proceeds into his "shadow government" that is itching to take-over our democratic nation just as soon as the Bush puppet is called-in in to make a decision:
Most of the evidence is here, and it points directly to war with Iran. It's time for Americans to understand the consequences of such a war, and in doing do, the goosebumps on your back will Haunt you as reality begins to sink-in and you understand that America will effectively reach "third world Status" and we will be as poor and destitute as the many nations that we have helped throughout history that couldn't't seem to pull themselves out from under inflation and living conditions that shocked the conscience of the average American:
This is meant to be a sister article to "Independence Day Is Coming - Let’s Make It A Real Day For America’s Independence!" and "Call to Action July 4th- Get off the internet, I’ll see you in the streets!" Whether the Truckers strike is immaterial; we need them just as they need us, but after you read and understand "why" it's so urgent to stop Bush from Bombing Iran, it is apparent that in order to quash his warmongering and attempts at overthrowing Democracy in America, to do nothing is literally suicide for our country as a whole - and while the rich may survive, the Middle-class and poor will be in a panic just to figure out how to feed our families and find the money to get to work. Celebrate the 4th of July this year with a renewed vigor and spirit. Remember the principles and beliefs that caused our nation to be created with a constitutional framework to guarantee that tyranny could never show its ugly head here, but now, without a free press, the people are largely ignorant and believe many the lies the Bush administration publishes on a daily basis through their bought and paid-for MSM. Further, when and if you protest, don't forget the MSM who are as guilty and complicit as Bush himself - and as they cut jobs by the thousands, remind them that one network could dominate everyone else if they would just "sound the alarm" and report the truth to the bulk of the population and state exactly what is at stake and the true price for failure. On Tuesday, when it's time to go to work, eat some tomatoes during the holiday weekend, and call in sick with salmonella that the CDC can't seem to pin-down, but has nevertheless affected over thirty-three states. Yes, you'll lose some wages, but knowing that higher gas and food prices are right around the corner mitigate any money you might lose in the short-term, and Congress and this Presidency need to be reminded that it's "we the people" who own and operate America, not them. A simple work-stoppage will send a message and will force Congress to take immediate action. This nation doesn't operate without the people working diligently to keep things flowing, and now, our efforts are supporting nothing but war and financial collapse - so what's the point? This could be one of our last chances to make a difference before the Middle-East, and possibly the United States on our own mainland, are embroiled in a war that will destroy what's left of our country. Most of you have children, grandchildren, and family that will be sucked into the system as the draft will be re-implemented to support another war - and our quality of life will be one that should make everyone shudder. Mine is only one idea, however, there are organizers and activists that can take this framework of protest and turn it into a reality - but it will take your support and understanding that if we fail to act, like the Jews in Germany, we are sealing our fate by "hoping" that someone brings sanity to Washington, which so far, has been a pipe-dream that has done nothing but further allow Bush to retain and grab more power to effectively complete his Grandfather's legacy -one that is contrary to the American way of life and is treasonous when we look into the may ways that Bush has dismantled our system of checks and balances and made the United States the Fourth Reich, all the while condemning other nations for curtailing the freedom of its countrymen, a project that PNAC and Bush have been working on for decades. It's also time to put out collective foot down and demand that Congress vote for the health and safety of the American people, not the interests of AIPAC and the radicals that are taking over Israel much as they have in our nation. The evidence and substantiation is here. You can choose to watch our society implode with other war, or you can act as patriotic Americans and do whatever it takes to make Washington vote the will of the people, and don't forget, even for a second, that the United States belongs to us, not the politicians and elitists that are running our country into the ground! Independence Day is coming, and as Americans, we must re-declare that independence and refuse to knuckle-under to AIPAC and the lobbyists that are spending millions to keep the government from halting oil speculation, the true reason why gas and diesel prices are rising faster than our ability to cope with their rise. Read the above articles in-depth, and understand that it's not me that predicting war with Iran, but Israel, the United States, and most of the global news media that still prints much of the truth, making our own MSM seem insignificant and ineffective. We owe it to ourselves, but even more, we owe it to our children and grandchildren, and the countless hundreds of thousands whom have died in the pursuit of liberty and freedom. William Cormier

Submitted by wjcormierjr on July 1, 2008 - 9:52am.It's been a while since I've posted here and offer my apology for staying away too long.Life has been hectic for all of us, however, those who are on fixed-incomes and other scio-economic groups are feeling the full impact of higher fuel and food prices now; there doesn't seem to be a "waiting period"; one day you're making it, and the next, everything begins to unravel, and I know I'm not unique, but share this situation with millions of others; I'm hoping the community is as tenacious as it was before I left and look forward to the wit and honesty that has always prevailed on CHB

Submitted by pollchecker on July 1, 2008 - 3:50pm.William -- great blog. Just remember to limit your quotes to approx 100 words from any article you are quoting and include the link which I believe you did in most instances.
The copyright police (not me) are watching (wink).
However, I believe you give GW a bit more credit than he deserves. His motives were never that nefarious. Iraq was just a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein, plain and simple.
