![]() After capturing the Oregon primary and compiling a delegate count that Hillary Clinton cannot overcome unless she convinces superdelegates to overturn the will of the voters, Senator Barack Obama now sounds more and more like the presumptive Democratic nominee for President. Watch the video of his speech in Iowa.

NY native I watched the
Submitted by Alexandria Lupu on May 21, 2008 - 1:05pm.NY native
I watched the speech, live, and repeated over and over by his favorite channels. I see nothing of substance in Obama's speeches, referring mostly to what has gone on in the past. Using the same trite phrases. Whereas Hillary's speeches give specifics, are intelligent presentations and capture my attention.
Obama constantly shouts out his talks. I find this extremely irritating and wonder why he is considered a great orator. Not in my book.
I give you a lot of credit
Submitted by griff on May 21, 2008 - 3:43pm.I give you a lot of credit for repeated viewings. I couldn't watch it entirely, my previously well-heeled lunch was threatening revolt. Truly a case study in mass hypnosis. Downright scary.
He's got a serious messiah complex to say the least. He has the air of a self-righteous preacher. Irritating is too kind a word.
Of course, if he started talking policy people might actually find out he has no idea what he's doing, or how we will pay for the massive expansion of an already oppressive government.
When you look at his platform, everywhere you look you see words like "expand, create, boost, mandate, establish, fully fund, and my all-time favorite...global".
I don't see Clinton coming
Submitted by acf on May 22, 2008 - 12:48am.I don't see Clinton coming out of the convention with the nomination, but I never expected her to overtake Obama in elected delegates after his February haul. If she wins the nomination because enough SDs choose her over him, it won't be because they are 'overturning the will of the voters', but because they are doing the job that they were designed to do, which was to insure that the best candidate for November is named, in spite of the primaries. I know Obama's supporters hate that, but long time followers of presidential elections understand this. Had Obama won a couple of the big states he lost to Clinton, and gathered enough elected delegates to clinch the nomination, not just a majority of those up in primaries and caucuses, this would be a moot point. The biggest battle now, one which we hear about, but don't see up close on TV, is the campaign for those SDs to provide the total needed to clinch the convention vote.
Yes, change is coming to
Submitted by Hoosier_CowBoy on May 22, 2008 - 3:51pm.Yes, change is coming to America after this election. depending on who gets elected, we will either make a course correction or we will go down the tubes.
If you think it can't happen to Fortress America, just remember what happenned to the U.S.S.R. less than a generation ago.
No one would have believed that the Soviet Empire would go down so quickly. After decades of ossified leadership, just a small push caused it to fall over.
In some ways, the US leadership is beginning to resemble what was in the Kremblin, closed off, priviledged, and believing too much in their own invincibility. Their arrogance lead to downfall. So can our own.
