![]() President Bush: America's loss is golf's gain (AP) In the kind of convoluted, twisted logic that could only come from a detached, dispassionate President, George W. Bush said Tuesday that he cared so much about the soldiers dying in his failed Iraq war that he gave up golf. That's right. The President of the United States says he just couldn't play on the links while Americans died in Iraq. This laughable attempt at compassion comes off as just another example of how out of touch with reality this President is with his flawed and failed actions. Reports Mike Allen of Politico:

Submitted by ekaton on May 14, 2008 - 8:38am.The intelligence was not flawed. It was twisted and cherry-picked to support an invasion of Iraq. Rumsfeld set up his own intelligence agencey to provide the 'correct' intelligence to support war. This is another of those 'big lies' the Bush Junta continues to spread hoping they will be accepted as truth. Catapaulting the propaganda so to speak.

Submitted by Dogma on May 14, 2008 - 9:04am.I knew he was dumber than a box of rocks. Now he has opened his mouth, spoken and removed all doubt. This is, by far, one of the most asinine things he has ever said. I'm sure the families of the 4,000+ dead and the countless number of injured are feeling oh so much better now. January can't get here soon enough. He's such an embarrassment to this country.

No, everyone has been continually disappointed by how flawed your intelligence has been, Mr. President.
This is ridiculous. How did such a callow imbecile stay president for 4 years? Well the hell is wrong with us as a nation?

Submitted by old_curmudgeon on May 14, 2008 - 9:36am.Well. What about fishing with the old man of Kennebunkport? What about hobnobbin with the rich donors at $10,000 a plate dinners? How about month long vacations, paid for by the taxpayer? How about trips to the Olympics, again courtesy of the taxpayer?
You want to feel solidarity with the groundpounders? Why don't you take all of your family/extended family (including jeb's offspring) that are military age and slap them into uniforms and send their powerderpuff asses to the frontlines? No need to worry about whether they qualify, the Army has lowered their entrance standards so even your blue-bloods are acceptable.
I mean, they DO think that fighting over there is an honorable thing to do, don't they? They DO believe that God told you to fight these muslims, don't they? They DO believe that you know what you're doing, don't they?
Oh well, these are just rhetorical anyway. Of course they believe your right - just that they are above the fray and more useful doing whatever it is they are doing now.
But, as always, this is just this old curmudgeon's opinion...

Submitted by ekaton on May 14, 2008 - 12:13pm.Like Dick Cheney during the Vietnam War, they have other priorities. Gee, no shit, ya think? Let's not give the Clintons a pass either. Mama is pro war because she always votes for more funding, and Chelsea, having other priorities, is a HEDGE FUND MANAGER, and you know how beneficial these are to the economy, especially when they go belly up and the tax payers are required to bail them out. I think thats what they mean by a "free market economy" -- profits are FREE and taxpayers pay the COSTS. Its really a win-win situation.

I am a mother of the first
Submitted by Ann on May 14, 2008 - 10:40am.I am a mother of the first Bush war and I can remember wanting any word just anything and there was that dang stupid &&& out on the golf course playing golf. All you could see was him on that golf cart he needed a holiday and I wanted to scream get back to the White House and see about the troops. So how good of the second to put golf off wow he and his dad burn me up. Smart he just went every where and has more vacation time than any one else that is so stupid. I wish he and his dad lost as much sleep as I did and I feel for all the families waiting for word of something anything. I have never known any two men who were so out there they have no feeling at all.
What a nothing he is and how horrible he has ruined us I wish he would just shut up.

He gave it up because no one wants to play with him anymore. That's more like it, imo---Too much a target. Either that or he was getting a little testy with his golf clubs and was a danger to his partners.
Cheney should have gave up hunting.
