WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards on Friday declined to make an endorsement in the Democratic presidential battle, but said Barack Obama could unite the party and win in November.

He's probably been trying to endorse Obama but the Clintons won't answer the phone, not even at 3 a.m.

My guess is that Edwards would've "come out" for Obama a few days ago, but as a southern gentleman, politely wanted to alert the Clintons.
